Former World No. 1 Jannik Sinner is a huge Formula 1 enthusiast. The Italian tennis star became a fan of F1 in 2023, and at the time, he claimed that tennis and racing share many synergies.

In the same interview, Sinner also expressed his love and admiration for racing and motorsports, stating that very small details can make a huge difference in the game.

He said (via the official website of F1), “Putting it simply, I love cars, motorsport, and the thrill of racing and competing.

“One of the main reasons why I love F1, whether that’s watching, karting with my friends, or racing in a simulator, is because I feel there’s a lot of synergies between tennis and racing. I feel that in both sports it’s all about the 1% and it’s the small details that make a huge difference.”

Which F1 racer does Jannik Sinner support?

Sinner is a fan of British racer Lewis Hamilton. However, during an interview with the F1 Paddock Club last year, he was asked to name the driver who he thinks has a similar mentality to him. Replying to the question, he named the British racer George Russell.

He said, “Obviously the mental is really, really important. If I would choose one, I would say maybe George [Russell]. He is very relaxed, obviously very, very focused and concentrated during his race, very similar to me.”

Meanwhile, the Italian tennis star has recently been seen raising his support for Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who recorded his maiden F1 triumph at the Chinese Grand Prix. Antonelli is also the youngest pole sitter in the history of the championship, as he broke an almost two-decade-old record by Sebastian Vettel.

After winning the Indian Wells Masters, Sinner hailed Antonelli for his win in Shanghai during his winning speech. He said, “It has been a special day for Italy because I am a huge Formula 1 fan and having a very, very young Italian Kimi bringing Italy back home at the top is amazing. So thanks Kimi and thanks Formula 1.”

Antonelli later admitted that Sinner’s tribute to his Chinese GP triumph was a surprise, as he was playing in California. The 19-year-old also stated that he wrote back to his compatriot later.

The Mercedes driver said, “Well, I received a lot, but I was very surprised by Jannik’s dedication at Indian Wells. In fact, I wrote him a message back because I appreciated it very much; it was really nice.”

Last year, during the ATP Finals, the 19-year-old met Sinner in Turin.

Sinner, who is an avid motorsports enthusiast, supports Scuderia Ferrari. He also visited the Ferrari factory in Maranello in 2023.

During his visit, Sinner stated that his love for cars and motorsport had been passed down to him by his father and grandfather, and that he loves staying connected to racing in some capacity.
