Rafael Nadal has played 12 matches in 2024, losing five.
Rafael Nadal is reportedly set to miss the 2024 Wimbledon Championships as he’s aiming to participate in the upcoming Paris Olympics. In addition to that, he might convince Carlos Alcaraz to be his doubles partner at the Olympics.
After a prolonged hiatus, Nadal made his return at the Barcelona Open in April, earlier this year. However, since his return, the Spaniard has played nine matches on the tour, losing four. He was eliminated in the first round of the 2024 French Open by Germany’s Alexander Zverev.
As per the first entry list for the 2024 Wimbledon, Nadal was expected to play at the grass-court Major via protected rankings (PR). However, as per new reports, the Spaniard is considering skipping the grass season to prepare for the Olympics.
Meanwhile, Nadal’s countryman, Carlos Alcaraz, is set to take a few days off from tennis to enjoy his French Open triumph. The Spaniard will be visiting Ibiza to enjoy a few days of vacation and celebrate winning his third Grand Slam title.
However, the 21-year-old will soon make his return, as he’ll be playing at the Queen’s Club Championships before the 2024 Wimbledon. Former tennis player and compatriot Ángel García was quoted as saying by COPE, “There is no Spanish city that Carlos has visited more than Ibiza. He loves it, there he wants to celebrate Roland Garros and spend a few days on vacation.”

He further added, “Then he will go to Queens like last year to prepare Wimbledon and try to defend the title. And from there Rafa wants to convince Carlos to play a tournament together on the ground and if not they will go straight to the Olympic Games, where the tennis tournament begins on July 27.”
However, Garcia also stated that Rafael Nadal can return at the ATP 500 Hamburg Open, scheduled from July 15 to 21. Nadal and Alcaraz can also team up for the ATP 500 event to gain momentum ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
