No active players or tennis stars from the 21st century are on the list of most consecutive WTA Grand Slam finals.

Women’s tennis was primarily dominated by a few top names in the second half of the last century. Serena Williams turned out to be a superstar of tennis in the 21st century, and she played four consecutive Grand Slam finals twice in her illustrious career.

Williams’ consistency on the tour was commendable; however, she has missed out on the list of most consecutive WTA Grand Slam finals.

No player from the current century is on the list. Thus, without any further ado, let’s take a look at the top five players to play the most consecutive WTA Grand Slam finals.

5. Margaret Court (6)

Tennis icon Margaret Court played six consecutive Grand Slam finals from the 1969 US Open to the 1971 Australian Open. Court won all six finals.

Interestingly, she also completed the Calendar Slam in 1970, becoming the first woman in the Open Era to reach the incredible milestone. Her streak came to an end in the 1971 French Open after she was defeated in the third round by Gail Chanfreau.

4. Monica Seles (8)

The biggest what-if in tennis, Monica Seles, played eight consecutive major finals from the 1991 US Open to the 1993 Australian Open. She won five Grand Slam titles in her astounding run, beating Steffi Graf twice and Martina Navratilova once.

Her streak came to an end at the 1993 French Open, as the three-time reigning champion was not able to compete in the tournament after being stabbed in April during a competition.

3. Chris Evert (10)

The former American tennis star played 10 consecutive Grand Slam finals from the 1977 US Open to the 1981 Australian Open.

Interestingly, out of her 10 consecutive major finals, she played five against Martina Navratilova and won twice. Only in the 1984 Australian Open final, Navratilova lost to the Czech Republic’s Helena Sukova.

2. Martina Navratilova (11)

A complete package of tennis prowess, Martina Navratilova’s Open Era record 59 Grand Slam titles in the Open Era, including 31 in women’s doubles competitions. Meanwhile, she played 11 consecutive women’s singles Grand Slam finals between 1985 and 1987.

Her memorable streak started at the 1985 French Open, where she lost to Chris Evert. Out of the 11 major finals, she won six before her streak ended in the 1987 US Open final. In 1987, she defeated Steffi Graf in two consecutive finals, the Wimbledon Championships and the US Open.

1. Steffi Graf (13)

Former German tennis star Steffi Graf holds the world record for most consecutive Grand Slam finals played in WTA history. She played a total of 13 consecutive major finals between the 1987 French Open and the 1990 French Open.

Graf won nine of the 13 Grand Slam finals, which were two French Opens (1987–88), three Australian Open (1988–90), two Wimbledon (1988–89), and two US Open (1988–89).

Her incredible run eventually came to an end during the 1990 Wimbledon Championships, where she lost to former American tennis player Zina Garrison in the semi-finals.
