WTA Finals 2024: All you need to know about prize money and points on offer

Historic $15.25M WTA Finals 2024 kicks off in Riyadh with star-studded field.
In another historic shift, the first WTA Finals 2024 will land in Riyadh’s King Saud University Sports Arena. Saudi Arabia will host its maiden major women’s tennis tournament this year.
The season finale begins on November 2 through 9, where the best of the eight single-player elites and the double top teams will fight each other to win the year-end title for more than $15 million. Current World No. #1 Aryna Sabalenka leads the field and will aim to secure her position against rival Iga Swiatek.
Sabalenka comes in as the favourite after dominating 2024 with titles at the Australian Open and US Open. The 26-year-old Belarusian needs just three round-robin wins to secure the year-end top ranking, adding extra drama to the event.
However, hopes for reclaiming the world No. #1 remain for defending champion Iga Swiatek, who won her fourth French Open title this year. The Polish star must win the championship to have any chance of overtaking Sabalenka. Last year in Cancun, Swiatek destroyed Jessica Pegula 6-1, 6-0 in the final to take the top spot.

American sensation Coco Gauff, 20, comes in with momentum after winning the China Open and reaching two Grand Slam semifinals this year. The world No. #3 leads the field in return games won (46.3%), but has a problem with double faults, averaging six per match.
Elena Rybakina is a tournament wild card. This year, she is 41-9 and won titles in Brisbane, Abu Dhabi, and Stuttgart. But Elena comes in after a prolonged injury and may require extra time to get back to her mojo.
WTA Finals 2024 groups
Purple Group includes: Sabalenka, Jasmine Paolini, Rybakina, and Olympic gold medalist Zheng Qinwen. Paolini will double up, playing doubles with Sara Errani after their Olympic victory.
Orange Group includes: Swiatek, Gauff, Pegula, and 2024 Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova. Pegula returns after having reached last year’s final and will play only singles this year after having played doubles last year with Gauff.
Zheng Qinwen, who at 22 hails from China, arrives on a hot streak, having won in Tokyo, going 12-2 through Asia. This youngster looks to cap her breakout year that saw her appearing in the final at the Australian Open.
