FBI identifies Ohio teen as key suspect in alleged White House UFC plot

Tycen Proper, a 19-year-old resident of Knox County, Ohio, has emerged as one of the central figures in an FBI investigation into the alleged plot targeting the UFC Freedom 250 event held at the White House last weekend.

Federal authorities arrested Proper as part of a multi-state operation that officials say disrupted a planned attack connected to the historic event.

According to FBI Director Kash Patel, Proper is among five individuals currently in custody as part of the investigation. Patel stated that Proper faces four federal charges, including conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States and the attempted murder of a U.S. government official.

A criminal complaint was filed against Proper on June 12. Investigators reportedly uncovered critical evidence through a search of his iPhone, which allegedly contained communications detailing plans for an attack in Washington, D.C.

The FBI said the device contained “chats on Signal groups that laid out detailed plans to conduct an attack in Washington, D.C. with several unidentified confederates.”

Proper is currently being held in Franklin County, Ohio, after reportedly undergoing a brief hospitalization related to concerns about self-harm.

Commenting on the arrests, Patel said: “Thanks to the rapid action of the FBI, our partners, and the Department of Justice in a multi-state operation, multiple individuals are now in custody, and allegedly planned attacks were stopped cold.”

While authorities have not publicly outlined a definitive motive, court filings cited by investigators suggest the alleged objective was to “jumpstart a revolution in the US.“

According to the FBI, Proper and several co-defendants allegedly communicated through a TikTok messaging group known as “Vanguard of the Old.” The group reportedly became active in March and was supplemented by discussions on the encrypted messaging platform Signal.

Federal investigators described the group as containing individuals with anti-government views and strong religious ideologies. Court documents allege participants expressed frustrations regarding government corruption, the handling of Epstein-related files, and other political issues.

The FBI also stated that Proper’s mother told investigators she believed her son had been manipulated through religious messaging shared within the group.

Authorities say Proper’s family played a significant role in bringing attention to the case. Investigators were reportedly contacted after family members became concerned that Proper had quit his job and planned to travel with individuals he met online during the UFC Freedom 250 weekend.

Alleged plans uncovered during the investigation

According to court documents, investigators discovered extensive discussions regarding travel plans, staging locations, and operational preparations.

Authorities allege that members planned to gather in Fredericksburg, Virginia, before traveling toward Washington, D.C. Investigators claim discussions involved staging a protest near the White House before carrying out additional coordinated actions.

Federal officials also allege that communications referenced drones, sniper positions, escape routes, and potential targets. Maps, photographs, and planning materials were reportedly recovered from electronic devices examined during the investigation.

In addition to Proper, authorities arrested Bryan Omar Roa and Michael Alan Thomas in California, Daniel K. Eskridge in Missouri, and Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez in Nebraska.

The investigation remains ongoing as federal authorities continue examining digital evidence and communications recovered from multiple suspects.
