The tournament is set to provide Paris Olympics quotas.

The highly anticipated World Wrestling Championships 2023 is slated to commence on September 16 and will culminate on September 24. This prestigious sporting event will serve as the initial wrestling qualifiers for the forthcoming Paris 2024 Olympics. Wrestling enthusiasts and athletes from around the world eagerly await this momentous occasion to showcase their skills and strive for glory on the global stage.

India has selected a formidable delegation for the forthcoming championship. However, due to the Wrestling Federation of India's failure to conduct timely elections, the wrestlers will not be able to compete under its national flag at Belgrade.

The United World Wrestling (UWW), the esteemed global governing body for the sport, has taken the decision to provisionally suspend the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).

A total of 30 Indian wrestlers are set to participate in the tournament with the big names like Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Bajrang Punia, Ravi Dahiya, Vinesh Phogat missing out. Antim Panghal, two-time U-20 gold medalist, will be looking to stamp her mark in the senior section and this competition will also help her prepare for the much-awaited Hangzhou Asian Games.
