Divya Kakran and Sachin tied the knot on February 2023.
Well known Indian wrestler Divya Kakran, a multiple-time international medalist and Arjuna Awardee, has officially announced her separation from husband Sachin Pratap Singh, a national-level bodybuilder. According to reports, the couple—who tied the knot in February 2023—had been living separately for the past five months before deciding to part ways.
Divya took to her official Instagram account earlier this week to share the personal update with her followers. In a candid story post, she described the experience as one of the “most difficult chapters” of her life, stating:
“Hey as you know I’m Divya Kakran. I wanted to share something personal with you. I’ve recently decided to get a divorce with my husband Sachin Pratap Singh. It’s been one of the most difficult chapters of my life. There’s been a lot of pain, reflection, and letting go…but also moments of clarity, growth, and strength I didn’t know I had.”

“This isn’t something I share easily, but I felt you should know because your support, even from a distance, has meant a lot. I’m slowly healing and learning to embrace this new beginning with grace and hope. Sometimes life takes a turn we never expected, and I believe in being real about that.”
I’m still healing, still trying to find my footing, but I’m also growing in ways I never imagined I could. I appreciate your support and especially my parents and family who always support me in every decision of my life,” Asian Games bronze medalist concluded.

Personal struggles amidst professional success
Even though Divya’s career graph has been steadily improving, her personal life has seen unexpected upheaval. A little over two years ago, she wed Sachin Pratap Singh, a bodybuilder and fitness enthusiast who competes at the national level. According to reports, the couple had been living apart since the start of 2025 and struggled to get along.Though she chose to keep the specifics of the separation private, her decision to speak about the emotional toll of the relationship is being praised as an act of strength. Divya’s announcement follows other prominent splits in the Indian sports scene, such as that of badminton icons Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap. As with those cases, her statement has raised issues about the troubles athletes deal with away from their sport.
Despite the personal setback, Divya remains focused on her career. She continues to train with the aim of representing India at upcoming international events, including the 2025 Asian Wrestling Championships and the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Currently employed with the Indian Railways, Divya was also appointed to a government position in Uttar Pradesh following her medal-winning performances. With strong institutional backing and her trademark resilience, she is expected to remain a key figure in Indian wrestling in the years ahead.
As Divya Kakran turns the page on this chapter of her life, the wrestling community and fans will be rallying behind her, not just for her next medal, but for her continued strength as a woman who refuses to back down from any challenge, on or off the mat.
