Wrestler Divya Kakran announces separation from husband Sachin Pratap Singh

Well known Indian wrestler Divya Kakran, a multiple-time international medalist and Arjuna Awardee, has officially announced her separation from husband Sachin Pratap Singh, a national-level bodybuilder. According to reports, the couple—who tied the knot in February 2023—had been living separately for the past five months before deciding to part ways.

Divya took to her official Instagram account earlier this week to share the personal update with her followers. In a candid story post, she described the experience as one of the “most difficult chapters” of her life, stating:

“Hey as you know I’m Divya Kakran. I wanted to share something personal with you. I’ve recently decided to get a divorce with my husband Sachin Pratap Singh. It’s been one of the most difficult chapters of my life. There’s been a lot of pain, reflection, and letting go…but also moments of clarity, growth, and strength I didn’t know I had.”

“This isn’t something I share easily, but I felt you should know because your support, even from a distance, has meant a lot. I’m slowly healing and learning to embrace this new beginning with grace and hope. Sometimes life takes a turn we never expected, and I believe in being real about that.”

I’m still healing, still trying to find my footing, but I’m also growing in ways I never imagined I could. I appreciate your support and especially my parents and family who always support me in every decision of my life,” Asian Games bronze medalist concluded.

Who is Divya Kakran?

Divya Kakran is a successful international wrestler who competes in the 68kg weight class. She is renowned for her aggressive style and unwavering will on the mat, and she has consistently brought honor to India on the global stage.She had previously won a gold medal at the 2020 Asian Wrestling Championships and a silver medal at the 2017 tournament (in the 69 kg class). At the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, she also won bronze. She also showed her dominance at the Commonwealth Games, where she won gold in 2018 and 2022.As evidence of her dominance in national wrestling, Divya has won eight Bharat Kesari titles, making her a formidable force at home. She became one of the most renowned female wrestlers in Indian history after her accomplishments earned her the 2020 Arjuna Award.

Personal struggles amidst professional success

Even though Divya’s career graph has been steadily improving, her personal life has seen unexpected upheaval. A little over two years ago, she wed Sachin Pratap Singh, a bodybuilder and fitness enthusiast who competes at the national level.
