Neha Sangwan’s two-year ban has also been lifted.

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has revoked the suspension imposed on Olympic bronze medallist Aman Sehrawat, allowing him to rejoin the competitive circuit after more than two months of uncertainty.

Aman was suspended following an unexpected weight-management lapse at the 2025 Senior World Championships held in Zagreb, Croatia, where he failed to make weight in the 57kg freestyle category. The incident led to immediate disqualification and a subsequent show-cause notice issued by the federation.

Aman submitted his written explanation on September 28, describing the incident as an unintentional miscalculation.

In his reply, he assured the WFI that he would strictly adhere to weight protocols in all future competitions. The federation also issued notices to the coaches present in Zagreb, seeking clarity on the oversight.

The WFI Disciplinary Committee met on November 13 to evaluate the case. Considering Aman’s consistent international performances and the fact that this was a first-time violation, the committee recommended a lenient approach.

WFI President Sanjay Kumar Singh accepted the proposal and officially lifted the suspension.

With the ban removed, Aman is now eligible to compete in upcoming domestic and international tournaments, including the next Pro Wrestling League scheduled to be held next year. The federation, however, has cautioned that any repeat offence will lead to stricter action.

WFI lifts suspension of Neha Sangwan

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has also lifted the suspension placed on emerging junior wrestler Neha Sangwan, who had been barred from competition after failing to make weight at the 2025 Junior World Championships in Samokov, Bulgaria.

Competing in the 59kg category, Neha was disqualified during the event’s weigh-in, prompting the federation to issue her a show-cause notice in late August. She submitted her written response on September 18.

In her explanation, Neha described the weight-related issue as an accidental lapse and assured the federation that she would maintain strict discipline moving forward.

During its November 13 meeting, the committee recommended leniency, citing her overall conduct and competitive track record.

WFI President Sanjay Kumar Singh accepted the suggestions and formally revoked her suspension, clearing her to participate in all upcoming events, including trials, national championships, and the Pro Wrestling League.

The WFI has reminded Neha that weight management remains a non-negotiable aspect of competitive wrestling and warned that any future violations will attract tougher penalties. With this decision, Neha can now resume full training and prepare for the upcoming international season.
