This is one of WWE‘s most anticipated pay-per-view events

After Wrestlemania, WWE has been very interesting and eventful with new rivalries and storylines. It is clear that all the narratives are heading towards the grand event of SummerSlam, which is scheduled to be held on August 5, 2023.

The introduction of the new World Heavyweight Championship and the 2023 Draft has laid the initial foundation for the stage and has been the biggest highlights so far. Three premium live events are scheduled before Summerslam beyond the borders to create the hype for this big event. Besides the major success of Backlash on May 8th in Puerto Rico, WWE has scheduled Night of Champions in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on May 27th and Money in the Bank in London, U.K. on July 1.

With the existing WWE superstars, debuting new talents and returning WWE veterans, WWE may possibly pull out stronger bookings for the SummerSlam 2023. With the same hype, here are the top five bold and early predictions that could lead up to SummerSlam 2023.

5. Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler wins Women's Tag Titles

The Women’s tag Team division has been shrunk and there are no possible opponents for Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan to defend. Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green are the only opponents who are currently chasing the title. However, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler returned this week on Raw and brutally attacked Rodriguez.

This could possibly turn out to be a tag team match for the WWE tag Team Titles at Night of Champions and there is a high possibility that the championship could change hands. Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler being crowned the new champions at Night of Champions, the duo could possibly defend their Tag Team titles against the former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Katana Chance and Kayden Carter at SummerSlam.

4. Becky Lynch retiring Trish Stratus

The 47-year-old veteran, Trish Stratus has already retired from being a full time in-ring wrestler in 2006, after a match against Lita at the Unforgiven pay-per-view. She stepped down due to personal reasons and being satisfied with her accomplishments. However, she stepped out of his retirement and made her return earlier this year. She was interviewed by Forbes and was asked if she would remain in WWE for a longer period, if the Women’s division is treated the same way.

She replied that she is fulfilled with her accomplishments and has worked with every woman at that time, and said “We had our day”. The current feud with Becky Lynch could be her final match and could possibly occur at the geandest stage of this summer, SummerSlam at Detroit.

3. Edge’s Retirement

Edge’s retirement plan has been going viral among WWE fans in recent times. Edge posted a video on his Twitter handle about his retirement plans and how he would like to retire. He stated that he would like to retire for the second time holding the World Heavyweight Championship. He also recalled how he retired from the first run, without any prior-indications and by relinquishing the World Championship, which was completely uncertain.

He wanted his retirement to be a mere send off, which could happen in the near future. As per Fightful reports, Edge signed a multi-year contract with WWE in 2020 and could possibly retire by this year. He wished that his last match would be in Toronto in front of the home crowd and it is likely to occur before SummerSlam. However SummerSlam could be the obvious choice for his final match. Although there are no superstars in the SmackDown roster who could compete at his standards, the possible opponent for Edge’s final match could be Austin Theory, LA Knight, or Grayson Waller.

2. Gunther will remain Intercontinental Champion

Everything in this world is said to change, but certain things are not subjected to change. This could apply for Gunther’s Intercontinental title reign. Since his main roster a year ago, Gunther has been an unstoppable force. Every man stepped in front of him had got their chest chopped into pieces by the brutal hands of the Austrian. Although no championships are safe from changing hands for the next few months, Gunther should be careful from close calls.

A closest match similar to the match at Wrestlemania 39 could turn out on the negative side for him. However, it seems like no one in the Raw roster is ready to dethrone the champ until SummerSlam 2023. This will lead him to become the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time, by breaking the record of The Honky Tonk Man. He is said to defend his title against Mustafa Ali at the Night of Champions in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. However, it could only be booked to showcase the dominance of The Ring General. The possible opponents for Gunther at SummerSlam could be Matt Riddle, Johnny Gargano, Apollo Crews and Bronson Reed.

1. The Usos will leave The Bloodline

The devastating loss against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 39, and failure to recapture the Undisputed Tag Team Titles has made a big crack inside The Bloodline. Although, The Bloodline had not crumbled completely the beginning of the end has already begun. In Backlash, there was a huge mis-understanding between Jey Uso and Solo Sikoa, as Solo would have nearly hit Jey with a Somoan Spike.

Adding hurt to injury, Roman Reigns’ reaction towards The Usos has made the crack inside The Bloodline even wider. Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa also took the spot of The Usos by challenging Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn for the Tag team titles. It could be a long time coming, but this summer will be the perfect spot for The Usos to break from The Bloodline.

As per speculations, there are high possibilities that The Usos could cost Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa’s opportunity to capture the tag titles at Night of Champions. Resulting in a tag team match at Money in the Bank between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa vs The Usos. Thereby building a feud between Jey Uso and Roman Reigns in a one-on-one match at SummerSlam.
