The event had already created a huge expectation among fans, as it could completely change the future of WWE. WWE has been hosting events across the world in recent times and this is one such overseas event.
This year’s Money in the Bank will take place at the O2 Arena in London, England on July 1st, marking it as the first MITB event outside the USA. WWE has booked some of the exciting matches for the event, featuring almost every potential wrestler in the company. Here is a detailed preview on the 2023 Money in the Bank premium live event.
Money in the Bank 2023: Match Card and Predictions
Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match
The Women’s Money in the Bank features Zelina Vega, Becky Lynch, Zoey Stark, Bayley, Iyo Sky and Trish Stratus. Bayley is the only contestant who had experience of winning the MITB ladder match and successfully cashed in to become the champion. Superstars including Zelina Vega, Zoey Stark, Iyo Sky are yet to be crowned as a singles champion in WWE. Although being the former women’s champion, Trish Stratus has never been in a MITB match before. This match is extremely important for every contestant as it could change their career by guaranteeing a championship opportunity.
As per rumors, Iyo Sky is the favorite to grab the MITB contract this year. With immense talent and successful wrestling career Iyo Sky seem to have stuck in the tag team division and mid-card level matches. This could be a perfect opportunity for the “Genius of the Sky” to kick start her championship reign in the main roster.
Cody Rhodes vs Dominik Mysterio
Cody Rhodes asked for a third match against Brock Lesner, however he only got a match against Con’ Dom. After messing up with each other’s alter ego, they are said to have a match in London. Cody Rhodes rarely lost a match after his return to WWE and has a clear upper hand with immense experience. However, Dominik is a fresher with few assisted victories and equals the competition by having “The Eradicator” Rhea Ripley in his corner.
As per speculations, Cody Rhodes will defeat Dominik despite Rhea’s distraction and assist. However, Brock Lesnar could possibly return and beat the soul out of Cody’s body at Money in the Bank 2023.
Asuka vs Charlotte Flair – WWE Women’s Championship
The Newly crowned WWE Women’s Champion Asuka is said to face the 14 times champion Charlotte Flair in a one on one match with titles on the line. Asuka won the Raw Women’s Championship from Bianca Belair at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia.
The belt was updated to the WWE Women’s Championship and Asuka was crowned the title. As soon as the championship belt was unveiled “The Queen” kept her eye on it and demanded a match for it. She got her title shot instead of Bianca Belair, who never had a rematch after the controversial loss. Belair showed her frustrations and dropped a spoiler for the MITB that she would be on the ringside to have a staredown at the champ after the match.
Asuka could possibly retain her championship by spraying mist on the eyes of Flair or could end up in a no contest by Belair’s interference.
Gunther vs Matt Riddle – WWE Intercontinental Championship
The longest reigning Intercontinental Champion Gunther is said to face Matt Riddle with the championship in the line. Gunther has been undefeated since his main roster debut and tore the rib bones of the opponents he faced. On the other side, Matt Riddle has been a baby face and never failed to deliver a hard fight.
As per rumors, Gunther will retain the Intercontinental Championship by clearly pinning Matt Riddle and will continue to punish Riddle after the match to continue the feud until SummerSlam.
Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match
The Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match features Ricochet, Shinsuke Nakamura, Santos Escobar, LA Knight, Butch, Damien Priest and Logan Paul. Ricochet and Nakamura, Escobar and LA Knight already started their internal feud amongst themselves in the process to qualify for the MITB match. Logan Paul is the only one who had qualified for the MITB ladder match without a match. The seven men are said to have a war amongst themselves and could turnout to be the highlight of the night.
As per speculations, LA Knight or Damien Priest is the favorite to win the MITB briefcase. However, it could be a hard fought victory with a showcase of extreme talents and highly risky moves.
Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor – World Heavyweight Championship
After a hard fought victory over AJ Styles at the Night of Champions, Seth Rollins was crowned as the new World Heavyweight Champion. On the following night on Raw, Seth Rollins on his championship victory celebration, The Judgement Day interfered and showed their interest to bring the championship to the stable. Damien Priest got the first opportunity for the gold the same day but was unsuccessful, however Finn Balor got his opportunity to face Rollins at MITB for the title.
Within weeks, the feud between them reached the peak, where Rollins was continuously attacked by Balor on every occasion. Seth was eventually injured in the mid region and still managed to defend against Bron Breakker at NXT. However, Balor got no mercy and continued his assault on Rollins to make him an easy target for MITB.
Rumors around the match speculate that Cody Rhodes could possibly win the match, but will be attacked after the match by returning Drew McIntyre paving way for the Money in the Bank cash-in.
The Bloodline Civil War – The Usos vs Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa
It has been a year of betrayal for Roman Reigns so far, as fellow Bloodline members are turning on him since the beginning of this year. After Sami Zayn’s betrayal, The Usos turned on The Tribal Chief for ill-treating and abusing them for his selfishness. Jimmy turned on him at Night of Champions by kicking Reign’s head twice, initiating the end of The Bloodline.
Solo Sikoa then attacked Jimmy Uso to show his loyalty to the Tribal Chief. Jey Uso then picked his side by joining Jimmy Uso and super kicking his cousin Roman Reigns and his brother Solo Sikoa. The Usos then confirmed their match by stating “The Civil War” in the Bloodline. The Usos are said to face Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa in a Tag Team match at the main event of the MITB event.
The Usos winning the match via disqualification or ending in a no contest could justify the end of the match and continue the feud for a longer period.
