Bray Wyatt is one of the finest talents and unique creative minds in the wrestling industry. He had a great wrestling career and had millions of fan followers around the world. Although he left us this soon at the age of 36, his memorable moments will always be remembered. To give a small tribute to the purest soul from our side, here we revisit Bray Wyatt’s WWE career.

Alex / Duke Rotundo

Windham Lawrence Rotunda made his professional wrestling debut at the WWE’s developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling in 2009. He debuted under the name Alex Rotundo and later changed it to Duke Rotundo. Duke Rotundo and his real-life brother Bo Rotundo (Bo Dallas) formed a tag team named “The Rotundo Brothers” and entered the tag team division. They soon became the FCW Florida Tag Team Champions, but lost after four months to The Dude Busters.

Husky Harris

Husky Harris joined the season two of the NXT and participated as the Rookie with Cody Rhodes as his Pro. He established himself as a heel and participated in multiple tasks until elimination. Harris ended the season with the number 4 position and was unable to tolerate his elimination. Harris along with the eliminated Rookies visited the finale of the season and attacked the season winner  Kaval.

Nexus

At the 2010 Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, during the match between John Cena and Wade Barrett, Harris made his main roster debut with McGillicutty and helped the first season NXT winner, Wade Barret to win the match. They tried to join the Nexus and tried favoring Nexus to finally get the membership.

The New Nexus

CM Punk took the Nexus under his control and joined the members by his side by an initiation, in which Wyatt passed and joined with Punk, McGillicutty and David Otunga. Harris and McGillicutty unsuccessfully challenged Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov for the WWE Tag Team Championship and failed. CM Punk then went on a feud with Randy Orton, where Harris came to save Punk from Orton but got Punt Kicked and sent back to the FCW.

Bray Wyatt

After wrestling two years for the FCW, Husky Harris was repackaged as Bray Wyatt with a whole new gimmick and re-debuted in the NXT brand as Bray Wyatt. Within months after his re-debut he tore his pectoral muscles and was pulled off from in-ring action. However he showed up in non-wrestling segments and founded “The Wyatt Family” with Luke Harper and Eric Rowan.

The Wyatt Family’s Main Roster Debut

In 2013, The Wyatt Family made their main roster debut by attacking Kane after his match with Christian. They continued their assault on other wrestlers and made an immediate impact on the main roster. Although they attacked multiple wrestlers  they targeted Kane again and again, which resulted in a Ring of Fire match at SummerSlam. Wyatt won by the help of Luke Harper and Eric Rowan, who overcame the flame and attacked Kane.

Feud with Daniel Bryan

The Wyatt Family then shifted their focus to Daniel Bryan, who defeated Eric Rowan and Luke Harper in the Gauntlet Match. They forced Bryan to join them by punishing him, which made Bryam join the stable initially. Bray and Bryan then went for a match against The Usos in a steel cage match, where they lost. After the match Bryan turned off Wyatt by attacking him with the running knee. The betrayal led to a match at Royal Rumble, where Wyatt defeated Bryan.

The Wyatt Family vs The Shield

After winning the match against Bryan the Wyatt Family attacked Cena later the same night to cost his championship. Cena, Bryan and Sheamus then went for a match against The Shield where the winning team entered the Chamber, The Wyatt Family attacked Cena and Bryan, to cause disqualification and costing the victory for the Shield. Which turned into a war between the two teams at Elimination Chamber, where Wyatt pinned Roman Reigns for the win.

Feud with John Cena

After winning the match against the Shield they again went to cost the match for Cena. Which turned into a great rivalry, where Cena challenged Wyatt for a match at WrestleMania and defeated Wyatt to mark the first pinfall loss in the main roster.

The feud continued after WrestleMania, where Wyatt kept playing mind games with Cena. Cena claimed that he is nothing without Harper and Rowan and asked him to prove wrong by battling inside the steel cage. Where Wyatt won after terrifying Cen by bringing a Demon child to the ring side.

Wyatt Family with Orton and WWE Championship

The Wyatt Family was drafted to SmackDown, where Wyatt began a feud with Orton. Wyatt kept on attacking Orton and won matches against Orton by the help of the Wyatt Family members. Orton wasn’t able to tolerate them and finally joined The Wyatt Family. Wyatt and Orton worked as a tag team and won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

Instead of Wyatt, Harper defended the title and lost the championships to The American Alpha, which made Wyatt angry and delivered Sister Abigail on Harper to exile him out of the group. Orton then went to win the Royal Rumble match and headline WrestleMania. However, Wyatt entered the Elimination Chamber and won the WWE Championship.

Orton convinced Wyatt that he would not challenge him for the championship, but turned on him and burnt The Wyatt Family compound and Sister Abigail’s grave. Orton then defeated Wyatt at WrestleMania and took the WWE Championship.

Deleters of the World

Wyatt was drafted to Raw, where he started a feud with “Broken” Matt Hardy. They went on a feud where Matt Hardy deleted Bray Wyatt by throwing him into “The Lake of Reincarnation”. Wyatt then returned a month later and joined hands with Matt Hardy. The team was named “The Deleters of the World” and they won the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship. The team disbanded and Wyatt was released from Contract in 2018.

Firefly Funhouse and The Fiend

Bray Wyatt debuted with a whole new gimmick a year later and hosted a children’s show Firefly Fun House with puppets of a Buzzard, Witch, Pig, Rabbit and so on. After weeks of Fun House segments, Wyatt introduced his alter ego “The Fiend”, who kept attacking co-wrestlers and veterans.

Universal Championship

The Fiend feuded with the Universal Champion Seth Rollins and had a couple of matches. At Hell in a Cell, the match was stopped by the referee due to a brutal attack by The Fiend. In Crown Jewel, both faced in a Falls count anywhere match, where The Fiend took the championship and moved to the SmackDown brand. Since the Championship is in Red color the color was changed to Blue for the SmackDown brand. The Fiend after multiple title defenses, lost the championship to the WWE Hall of Famer, Gold Berg after 118 day reigns.

Firefly Fun House Match

The Fiend then changed his focus towards returning Cena, where both agreed to have a Firefly Fun House match at WrestleMania 36. The match went in a dramatic way, where both teleported themselves to the most iconic moments of the company and fought there. At the end, The Fiend pinned John Cena as the normal Bray Wyatt acted as the referee.

Second Universal Championship

The Fiend then went to feud against the new Universal Champion, Braun Strowman, who was the Wyatt Family member in the past. Wyatt tried to play mind games with Strowman and win the title. He brought back the Eaters of the World gimmick and also involved Alexa Bliss, where he influenced Strowman to wear the Sheep mask. The Fiend finally defeated Braun Strowman and took the Universal Championship but lost after a month to Roman Reigns.

Feud with Randy Orton

The Fiend and Alexa Bliss started a feud with Randy Orton by recalling the feud in the past that he burnt the House of Wyatt. They fought in an Inferno match at TLC, where Orton burnt the Fiend. The Burnt Fiend then returned with a half burnt costume and had a match against Orton at WrestleMania, where Bliss cost the match for The Fiend by distracting him. Wyatt was then released from contract in 2021.

Return with Uncle Howdy & Final Appearance

After a year being inactive from wrestling, Bray Wyatt’s return was teased using a QR Code and a Rabbit. After weeks of teasing, Bray Wyatt made his return at the Extreme Rules pay per view with the real Puppets of the Firefly  Fun House.

He then brought Uncle Howdy’s character with him, which ordered Wyatt on what to do. Wyatt after a slow storytelling, finally managed to have a match against LA Knight. They fought in a Mountain Dew Pitch Black match at Royal Rumble, where Wyatt won. Which marks the last match of Wyatt. He then teased a match with Lashley but dropped after his illness.

On August 24, 2023, WWE officially announced that Bray Wyatt passed away at the age of 36. With prayers to his family and friends, may his soul Rest in Peace.
