What’s the future of US Championship with Rey Mysterio in charge?
If you didn’t watch this week’s episode of SmackDown, Rey Mysterio defeated Austin Theory to become the New United States Champion. Santos Escobar was the one who should have been facing Austin Theory for the championship.
However, Theory injured Escobar earlier and made him medically not cleared to compete. Escobar sent Rey Mysterio as his replacement to face Theory for the United States Championship, where Rey won the match by beating Theory cleanly. With Rey being the United States Champion, what could be the future of the United States Championship?
What’s the future of the United States Championship?
LWO running the SmackDown
WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio winning the United States title marks the first championship win for the LWO. The U.S. Championship could make LWO one of the notable stables in SmackDown and make them clinch more championship wins in the future. With Bloodline stumbling, LWO stable could get the push and possibly run SmackDown.
Santos Escobar vs Rey Mysterio
As Rey Mysterio took the spot of Santos Escobar to become the United States Champion, he would defend the championship against the original No.1 Contender, Santos Escobar in the near future. Where Escobar could win the championship as a part of his push by marking his first championship in the main roster.
NXT North American – United States Championship Unification match
Since the championships are getting unified into one, the NXT North American Championship and United States Championship might get unified in the future. Dominik being the NXT North American Champion and Rey’s involvement during the latest NXT episode could strengthen the argument. Since the father and son could not be unified, at least the championships they hold could be unified as one.
