John Cena's potential opponent for WWE Royal Rumble 2024 revealed

John Cena returned to WWE after a long wait and is scheduled to appear on SmackDown for seven weeks straight. Between that Cena hosted Payback 2023 and acted as a Special Guest Referee for the LA Knight vs The Miz match. Following his return, John Cena is expected to pick up a feud and feature in a premium live event, most probably at Fastlane. However his potential Royal Rumble 2024 opponent is now revealed.
Cena’s Royal Rumble opponent
As per BWE (via Wrestle Ops), John Cena is expected to face Solo Sikoa at Royal Rumble 2024 in January. The report stated that the current plan looks to extend for a long term and result in a match on the first stop of the road to WrestleMania.
When Cena came back to SmackDown, he was confronted by Jimmy Uso who expressed hatred towards his return. Jimmy said that no one wanted Cena to return as everyone came to see Jimmy. Cena said that the wrong Uso quit, and hit him with an Attitude Adjustment.
Following which Jimmy interfered with Cena once again at the Grayson Waller Effect on the recent episode of SmackDown. Jimmy and Solo Sikoa attacked Cena and AJ Styles, who has also been feuding with the two came to save him. Both sent Jimmy and Solo Sikoa retreat, which might be a tease for a tag team match at Fastlane.
No Singles PLE Appearance
Solo Sikoa has never featured in a Premium live event in a singles match. He had only three Premium Live Event matches and everything was a tag team match, where he teamed up with The Usos at Backlash and with Roman Reigns at Night of Champions and at Money in the Bank. If the feud continues and a match with Cena is booked this will be his singles PLE debut.
