The Ring General also didn't feature in the recent WW Crown Jewel event.
Gunther is one of the most dominant professional wrestlers right from the day 1 since he has been signed with WWE. He made his debut at NXT UK under the name Walter and won the NXT UK Championship months later by ending Pete Dunne's longest championship reign.
He also smashed Dunne's record to become the longest reigning NXT UK champion, having held the now-retired championship for 870 days. Dunne held the previous record at 685 days. Then weeks after losing his NXT UK Championship title, he (Walter) changed his name to Gunther ahead of his main roster debut.
On April 8, 2022, Gunther made his main roster debut with Ludwig Kaiser and soon climbed to the top spot to become the Intercontinental Champion by defeating Ricochet. Gunther, in the main roster, became one of the unstoppable forces of the company and broke multiple records.
He also became the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion and the longest to last in a Royal Rumble match and made everyone believe that he is undefeatable.
Gunther is consistent in the ring and delivered some of the extraordinary matches week after week. However, when almost all the champions featured in Crown Jewel defending their championships, the Intercontinental Championship wasn’t featured as Gunther wasn’t available. It is now reported that The Ring General will also miss the upcoming WWE Elimination Chamber 2024 event.
Reason why Gunther will be missing overseas events revealed
Gunther recently appeared for an interview with Krone, where he revealed that he is working on a residential process, so he is restricted to travel away from the United States for the next six months. Therefore, any overseas event in the immediate next six months will not feature Gunther. However, he will be free to travel by August 2024 and will be available for the WWE Bash event in Berlin, Germany.
Gunther though will still be available for events within the United States. This week Gunther’s next opponent will be revealed as there is a fatal 4-way match between Ivar, Bronson Reed, Ricochet and The Miz to determine the #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Championship.
