Did CM Punk purposely get fired from AEW for WWE return?
At AEW All In, CM Punk and Jack Perry were involved in a backstage argument and it turned physical moments before the match between CM Punk and Samoa Joe. After the show, it was reported that CM Punk and Jack Perry were suspended and an investigation committee was assigned to investigate it. Following the reports and suggestion of the AEW officials, Tony Khan fired CM Punk and permanently terminated from his contract due to disciplinary actions.
After almost two months of backstage rumors and speculations, CM Punk shocked the wrestling industry by returning to WWE after a decade. Punk claimed that he had changed a lot and was reported to be too sweet on and behind the screens. With Punk yet to sign a brand exclusive contract hours on Raw a backstage report revealed that Punk could purposely get fired from AEW.
CM Punk’s controversial departure planned?
On Story Time with Dutch Mantell, the 73 year old veteran reported that CM Punk might have probably created a scene to voluntarily get fired from AEW so that he could make his pursuit to return to WWE.
Mantell said,
“I think that he wanted them to fire him because that goes right along with he’s a maverick, nobody tells him what to do.”
“‘If you fire me, good. Fire me.’ He didn’t care. Originally I didn’t think that, but now, as time went on, I think that he got himself fired on purpose.”
The statement however is just a speculation and not a fact, however it could probably be true as it was reported that Punk had previously tried a number of times to return to WWE while being contracted to AEW. He behaves sweeter than ever in the stamford based company, which is totally contrast to why he was released from AEW. As Punk claims, he might have changed, but nothing could be confirmed with a speculation.
