Four possible opponents for CM Punk to main event WWE WrestleMania 40
CM Punk made his return intentions clear on SmackDown, stating that he has come back home to finish what he started and main event the show of shows ‘WrestleMania’. Punk is just getting started with his second run at WWE and hasn’t found his first opponent yet and put a lot of top stars on notice. As most wonder who will be Punk’s first opponent and how Punk’s road to WrestleMania run would be, we came out with some of the potential opponents for WrestleMania next year.
Although this is too early for WrestleMania, here we predict four possible opponents for CM Punk at main event WrestleMania 40.
4. Kevin Owens
CM Punk vs Kevin Owens had already been in the plans earlier this year during the Road to WrestleMania 39, as revealed by CM Punk’s close circle. However, the plan got scrapped as Punk was contracted to AEW at the time and the WWE officials weren’t on the terms with Punk.
However, this could potentially happen the following year at WrestleMania 40. This could be a great clash between the two prize fighters as both are capable of pulling great promos, build and extreme fights.
3. Roman Reigns
CM Punk vs Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship and the custody of Paul Heyman could be an interesting storyline and a great main event for WrestleMania 40. CM Punk on his SmackDown return spoke that he was the OG Paul Heyman Guy and Heyman was his Wiseman first. The clash between two Paul Heyman Guys could be an out of box storyline for The Tribal Chief who is stuck within The Bloodline problems.
2. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin
Talking about the long time coming, how could we even miss Stone Cold Steve Austin vs CM Punk, which was already teased in the past and never happened. As per the internal rumors it is believed that Punk vs Austin has been in discussion and could expect a match sooner or later. Why later, when the WrestleMania season is coming over in a few months.
There are a lot of possibilities that this match could happen, as Austin showed up to wrestle at WrestleMania 38 against Kevin Owens. If KO could do it, the Best in the World could definitely call the Texas rattle to the ring again.
1. Seth “Freakin” Rollins
The potential match that is on the cards of many wrestling fans is the match between Seth Rollins and CM Punk at WrestleMania 40 for the World Heavyweight Championship. Ever since Punk made his return to WWE, the build for the rivalry began. However, they never met each other face to face since then.
They might build the feud so long that it could result in a match at WrestleMania 40. We speculate that Punk could potentially win the 2024 Royal Rumble and will begin his feud with Seth Rollins to main event the show of shows to dethrone The Visionary.
