Big E to return to WWE and take on Gunther?
“The Ring General” Gunther is one of the best in class wrestlers on the active WWE roster. He is the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time with a monumental reign of 530 days. He is a dominant champion, with an undefeated record in the singles match via pinfall or submission. Gunther made a great impact on the company within a short period of time and elevated the Intercontinental title to a whole new level.
The Mighty Austrian recently defended his title against one of the greatest Intercontinental Champion and retained to prove that no one is in the league of Gunther. However based on the recent bookings, it seems like the recent storyline is leading to the return of the former WWE Champion to feud with Gunther.
Big E to return and feud with Gunther?
Ever since Big E went on a long hiatus due to injury, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston of New Day started working as a duo. However, a week before Xmas 2023, it was reported that Woods was injured and would be out of action. Kofi has been hanging out alone and is eventually involved in a feud with Imperium. Last week on Raw, Kofi teamed up with Jey Uso and took Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci of Imperium, where a drop kick from Kofi injured Giovanni Vinci and it was reported that he will be away for weeks for a medical emergency.
On the recent episode of Raw, Ludwig Kaiser brutally assaulted Kofi Kingston and took the final member of The New Day out as revenge on Kofi, who took Giovanni Vinci out of action. It seems like WWE is planning to bring back Big E to feud with Gunther and eventually plan a Six Man Tag Team match between The New Day and Imperium.
Earlier in 2023, when Xavier Woods feuded with Gunther, it was reported that there had been long term plans backstage to possibly involve The New Day and Imperium with the fully healed Big E, which probably strengthens the likeliness to happen.
“One long term backstage pitch has seen Xavier Woods and a fully healed Big E and Kofi Kingston feuding with Imperium once the New Day are ready to return. The centerpiece for the feud would be Big E facing Gunther.”
As per previous reports from the New Day members themselves, Big E has been cleared from his injury and is doing 100%, thereby his return and feud with Imperium could be great and could raise the stakes up.
