Top nine WWE Superstars who travelled to India in 2023

WWE superstars are widely popular and they have a huge fan base across the world. WWE Superstars are considered idols and role models, especially in a country like India, where they have the biggest fan base outside the USA.

The excitement for their favourite superstars are high, which paid off last year as the WWE fans in India were able to see them perform live in their home country on September 8, 2023 (Friday) at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad. Here are some of the top WWE Superstars who travelled to India in 2023.

WWE Superstars who visited India in 2023

John Cena

John Cena wrestled his first match in India at WWE Superstar Spectacle 2023 teaming up with the World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins and had a match against Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser of Imperium and won. The 16-time champ had a great reception from the WWE fans in India. Cena said that he waited for this moment for almost 21 years and finally it happened. Cena had a great time in India and the fans are grateful for the memories he created.

Seth “Freakin” Rollins

The World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins had a match teaming with the 16-time champ, ‘The GOAT’ John Cena and took out Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci of Imperium and pulled out the win at the main event of the show.

Rhea Ripley

‘The Eradicator’ Rhea Ripley visited India for the Superstar Spectacle house show and successfully defended her Women’s World Championship against Natalya. Mami was celebrated by the Indian fans despite being a heel wrestler.

Gunther

‘The Ring General’ Gunther made his visit to India for the very first time in 2023 for the WWE Superstar Spectacle. Gunther successfully defended his Intercontinental Championship against the homie Shanky. Gunther enjoyed his appearance as he broke his character during the match by performing a quick dance move in front of the live crowd.

Jinder Mahal

“The Modern Day Maharaja” Jinder Mahal made his return in front of his home crowd in India at WWE Superstar Spectacle 2024. Mahal kicked off the show with the national anthem and addressed the WWE Universe. He was originally planned to be on the ringside supporting Sanga and VeerMahan, however interrupted during the match and made it a six-man tag team match.

Natalya

Natalya came to India along with the other raw superstars, She was the work ant for the show as she had two matches back to back the same night. Natalya replaced Becky Lynch in a match against Zoey Stark and won, however, lost the originally scheduled Women’s World Championship match against Rhea Ripley. Nattie met his old buddy The Great Khali at the event which she posted on her social media handles.

Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre was not scheduled for the actual show, however was inserted into the match after Mahal interfered with the match between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs Indus Sher. McIntyre came to the ring with the Indian Cricket jersey and joined hands with KO and Zayn and defeated Indus Sher. McIntyre also performed the Oscar winning “Nattu Nattu” dance in front of the crowd. 

Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens were originally scheduled to defend the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship against Indus Sher, however they lost the championship days ago to Judgment Day. The match was then made a normal tag team match and then a Six Man Tag Team match with the involvement of Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre and their team won. Owens and Zayn also had a shoot for Sony Sports Network with Indian Movie stars.
