The 17-time World Champion will retire next Saturday.
After a year-long retirement tour, John Cena’s farewell tour will arrive at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 as the 17-time World Champion prepares for his final match. The December 13 edition of SNME is set to emanate live from the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
As announced by Cena, the show will also give a platform to NXT talents to showcase their skills on the big stage against main-roster talents. Additionally, Michael Cole, during the December 5 episode of SmackDown, confirmed that a Countdown Show would stream on YouTube for John Cena’s final SNME, beginning about two hours before the main show.
In the main event of the aforementioned show, Gunther defeated LA Knight in the finals of the tournament to decide Cena’s final opponent. Gunther is now set to be John Cena’s final opponent on December 13, as the G.O.A.T. prepares to hang up his wrestling boots forever.
Also, during the December 5 show, Nick Aldis brought Cody Rhodes into his office, with Ricky Saints and Oba Femi already present. Cody revealed that whichever one of them won at NXT Deadline would face him on Saturday Night’s Main Event. Femi defeated Saints at the Deadline PLE to capture the title and is now set to battle Rhodes this Saturday.
Additionally, in a backstage segment, it was announced that Bayley will also be competing against an NXT talent at the show. Her opponent is none other than former NXT Women’s North American and WWE Speed Champion Sol Ruca.
During the December 8 SNME go-home show of Raw, it was announced that World Tag Team Champions, AJ Styles and Dragon Lee, will take on the team of NXT’s Je’Von Evans and TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater this Saturday.
