The upcoming edition of SNME will feature a special WWE vs NXT exhibition showcase.

During his recent appearance on the November 10 episode of Monday Night Raw, John Cena made his final appearance in Boston. This was one of his two final Raw appearances, the final one being set for next week at Madison Square Garden.

Cena, in his appearance, expressed his gratitude to the fans and revealed that, in addition to his final match, the December 13 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event would also feature exhibition bouts between main roster and NXT superstars, a gesture to usher in the next generation as his own era comes to a close.

Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com now reports that the inclusion of NXT talent in the event was John Cena’s idea, inspired by his close ties to WWE’s developmental brand.

“NXT wrestlers getting matches on SNME was a John Cena call,” Alvarez reported. “He loved his time at the WWE Performance Center.”

The showdown between main roster talent and rising stars from NXT brings fresh energy to Cena’s farewell tour and making it one of the most anticipated SNMEs of recent times. The show is expected to deliver a memorable showcase of competition with NXT talents getting the opportunity to shine on the big stage.

During the final moments of the November 7 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, while Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes was battling Aleister Black in a non-title match, Drew McIntyre, out of nowhere, came in and took out the referee, Dan Engler, with a vicious Claymore.

This attack irked General Manager Nick Aldis, who came out and suspended McIntyre from SmackDown. The show ended with the two arguing about the suspension. After the suspension, initial reports suggested that the suspension allowed Drew some time off for a movie project.

Wrestling Observer Radio reported that McIntyre’s televised suspension was arranged to provide him with time to shoot a forthcoming movie.

However, PW Insider confirmed through their WWE sources that the suspension is purely storyline-related and isn’t related to anything else.

“For those who have asked about rumors Drew McIntyre was ‘suspended’ on SmackDown so he can film a movie role, there is nothing to that, We’re told by creative sources that the suspension is just the next part of McIntyre’s storyline. There is nothing beyond that.”

It still remains to be seen when and how McIntyre makes his return, especially since Cody Rhodes is now involved in the men’s WarGames match and has teamed up with CM Punk and Jey Uso to take on the Vsion and Logan Paul.

Was the WWE vs NXT showdown at SNME John Cena’s idea?

Yes, as per Bryan Alvarez, the inclusion of NXT talent in the event was John Cena’s idea, inspired by his close ties to WWE’s developmental brand.

When and where will the December 13 episode of SNME take place?

The December 13 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event will take place at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

Is Drew McIntyre filming a movie during his suspension?

Despite initial reports suggesting that McIntyre’s televised suspension was arranged to provide him with time to shoot a forthcoming movie, PW Insider confirmed that the suspension is purely storyline-related.
