John Cena delivered some highly compelling matches during his farewell tour.

The legendary career of John Cena is about to see its end after 23 years in WWE. Cena announced his retirement in 2024 and embarked on a farewell tour at the start of 2025. In his final in-ring performances, Cena battled his storied rivals, rising stars, and top attractions of the modern era.

With his final match set to take place at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, here is a look at the top five best matches from John Cena’s retirement tour.

5. CM Punk – Night of Champions

John Cena and CM Punk wrote one last chapter in their storied WWE rivalry during Cena’s farewell tour. The Never Seen 17 defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against The Best in the World at Night of Champions PLE.

It was a compelling feud leading to a blockbuster match that ended with Cena retaining the title following huge chaos from Seth Rollins and his Vision faction.

4. Randy Orton – Backlash

John Cena‘s reign as the new Undisputed WWE Champion began with Randy Orton re-igniting their iconic rivalry. The duo clashed one last time at WWE Backlash in Orton’s hometown of St. Louis.

Despite the homefield advantage, massive chaos and slight interference from R-Truth led Cena scored the victory over The Viper.

3. Dominik Mysterio – Monday Night Raw

Dominik Mysterio interrupted John Cena’s final night in his hometown of Boston on RAW, which led to an impromptu match being made for his WWE Intercontinental Championship.

Dirty Dom came with high-flying and hard-hitting moves, but the Cenation Leader bested his efforts. In the end, he reversed a Frog Splash into an Attitude Adjustment to win the workhorse title for the first time in his WWE career.

2. Cody Rhodes – SummerSlam

Following their highly criticized bout at WrestleMania 41, John Cena and Cody Rhodes faced off against each other in a rematch for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam.

Unlike their previous match, it was a highly captivating and spectacular showdown that saw Cena delivering an instant classic despite dropping the title back to The American Nightmare.

1. AJ Styles – Crown Jewel

The fans rallying for one last match between John Cena and AJ Styles led to them having a clash at WWE Crown Jewel PLE. It could arguably be called the greatest showdown in Cena’s farewell tour.

From major nearfalls, both stars paid homage to multiple WWE stars, and a highly exceptional match, it ended in Cena’s 100th PLE win and marked one of the best in-ring performances of his career.
