‘The Best in the World’ will narrate the showcase mode in WWE 2K26.
The 2026 edition of WWE 2K is expected to release in March, and fans have been eagerly waiting for the game and details about the cover star. As per reports, the promotion already filmed the reveal commercial for WWE 2K26 back in December, with plans for the advertisement to air within the coming weeks.
Now, a new report from Insider Gaming’s Mike Straw reveals more details about the game. World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk is said to be positioned as one of the central figures of WWE 2K26, with plans for him to take a leading role in one of the title’s flagship modes.
The Showcase mode will be divided into three sections
The report claims that CM Punk will be the main focus of WWE 2K26’s Showcase Mode, which is expected to feature full narration from the World Champion himself. The Showcase Mode is divided into three distinct parts. The first section revisits Punk’s career favorite matches, which shaped his rise, title reigns, and lasting impact in WWE.
Another section explores alternate-timeline scenarios, “What If?”, examining how WWE history could have unfolded if Punk had remained with the company after 2014. The final section moves into a fantasy setting, offering long-awaited dream matches that never materialized due to multiple reasons, such as injuries, timing issues, or creative decisions.
What is Showcase mode?
Showcase is a signature mode designed to function like an interactive mini-documentary. It allows players to relive iconic matches and storylines from the promotion’s history, while occasionally branching into “What if” scenarios that explore alternate outcomes.
Over the years, the mode has highlighted numerous top names, including Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, Becky Lynch, and The Bloodline, among others.
Unlike the 2025 edition, in WWE 2K26, the Showcase experience places its focus on a single superstar as the report suggests, someone who previously played a role in the franchise’s first-ever Showcase Mode, which debuted in WWE 2K15.
Superstars who headline the Showcase Mode are typically chosen as the game’s cover star as well, and that trend could continue this year with CM Punk potentially featured on the cover. Last year, Roman Reigns was the cover star, but the showcase mode featured the Bloodline dynasty as a whole, not just the cover star.
WWE 2K26 was formally announced in November 2025, with 2K stating that the upcoming entry in the series is planned for release during the fourth quarter of 2026.
