Cody Rhodes vs John Cena: Head-to-head record in WWE

The two former friends have turned enemies since the Elimination Chamber 2025 PLE
“The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes has had a good relationship with the 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena. Despite competition, the two had mutual respect for each other with Cena even aiding him last year at WrestleMania 40 during the title match against Roman Reigns.
However, it all changed at the Elimination Chamber 2025 PLE which emanated from the Rogers Centre on March 1. After failing to win the 2025 men’s Royal Rumble match, Cena announced his participation in the men’s Chamber match.
The 16-time WWE World Champion fought through fierce competition and survived till the end to win the match. However, after the match when the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes arrived followed by The Rock and Travis Scott. What followed was Cena landing a low blow followed by brutal shots which left Rhodes bruised and bloodied in the middle of the ring as Cena and The Rock posed for the cameras.
The two former friends battled at the grandest stage on April 20 as the Undisputed title was on the line and Cena was looking to break the tie with Ric Flair and win the 17th WWE World title, while Rhodes wanted to teach him a lesson and continue his dominant reign.

The two stars have faced off against each other three times, all of which were broadcast matches. However, they’ve shared the ring a total of 74 times, whether as opponents in opposite corners or as tag partners on the same side. These include Handicap matches, Royal Rumble matches, triple threat, and battle royal.
Cena and Rhodes locked horns for the time in the September 07, 2009 episode of Monday Night Raw which emanated from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, USA. Cena picked the win via disqualification in their first meeting.
The second meeting between the two was in the Elimination Chamber Qualifying match on the February 01, 2010 episode of Raw, which emanated from the Sommet Center in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, Cena emerged victorious in the second meeting as well.
In their third singles clash on the January 28, 2013 episode of WWE Raw which aired from the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, Cena continued his undefeated streak and pinned the American Nightmare.
Cody and Cena battled for the fourth time at the WrestleMania 41 PLE which took place over two nights on April 19 and 20, 2025, at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, USA. The two stars met in the main event of April 20, 2025, where Cena once again pinned Rhodes to retain his undefeated streak while capturing the Undisputed WWE title, breaking the tie with Ric Flair to become the 17-time World Champion.
The two stars met for the fifth time in Cena’s final SummerSlam, and the 17-time World Champion defended the Undisputed title on the Night 2 edition of SummerSlam 2025.
Both pushed each other to the limits, but in the end, Cody was able to hit two back-to-back Cross Rhodes to pin Cena and regain the Undisputed title.
