The Second City Saint had a lot to say before the title defense.
‘The Second City Saint’ CM Punk defended the Undisputed title on the September 11 edition of SmackDown in Mexico City. Before the title defense in the main event, Punk was interviewed by Cathy Kelley backstage.
In the promo, Punk said that sometimes bad behavior had to be rewarded in order to teach someone a lesson, adding that winning a championship could feel like hitting the idiot lottery. He said Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens were both part of the problem, while he also had to contend with Finn Balor and Gunther.
Punk then made it clear that he had no intention of losing his title to someone who had broken his hand while jerking it to his fluke nine-day championship reign.
“If you think I came to Mexico City, where some of the greatest pro wrestling fans in the world reside, to lose my title to a guy who broke his hand jerking it to his nine-day fluke title win, you got another thing coming,”
This non-PG line raised few eyebrows among fans who speculated whether Punk went off-script during the promo, and we now have an update on the same courtesy of Fightful Select.

According to the outlet, CM Punk‘s “hand j*rkn*g it” line was not part of the original rundown for the backstage interview segment on SmackDown. This means the Second City Saint went off script to take a jab at Sami.
Despite being the underdog, Sami Zayn pulled off a shocking victory over CM Punk in last Friday’s main event, capturing the Undisputed WWE Championship in a chaotic closing sequence that saw the involvement of Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, and Kevin Owens.
The loss ended Punk’s title reign at 67 days, while the win kicked off Sami’s second WWE World title reign after his first ended at just 9 days, when he lost to Punk in his first title defense in July.
