Mega Champion vs Champion match to look out for
Triple H announced at the Bad Blood PLE that the World Heavyweight Champion will go toe-to-toe against the WWE champion at the upcoming Crown Jewel event. The excitement has never been higher as two of WWE’s top guys at the moment, Cody Rhodes and Gunther will fight for the right to be called the inaugural Crown Jewel champion.
Simple, right? The only thing is that nothing in WWE is as straightforward and there are going to be many twists and turns in this main event bout. Here, we take a look at the top five possible match finishes for Cody Rhodes vs Gunther at WWE Crown Jewel 2024.
5. Drew McIntyre interrupts, allowing Cody Rhodes to pick up the win
Drew McIntyre is among the biggest challengers to Gunther’s dominance as the world heavyweight champion. The fact that he is free from the clutches of CM Punk now and is absent from WWE programming at the moment means his return would be special.
The stature of The American Nightmare and The Ring General in the Stamford-based promotion means the finish to their epic showdown would be a tainted one. McIntyre has previously also been known for fiery comebacks and the Crown Jewel PLE could be the right time for him to re-enter the fray. Needless to say, the Scottish Warrior would most likely be hurting Gunther’s chances if he impeded the main event in Saudi Arabia.

4. Kevin Owens appears and attacks Rhodes, leading Gunther to victory
Kevin Owens‘ surprise attack on Cody Rhodes after cameras ended rolling at the Bad Blood PLE left everyone shell-shocked. The Canadian grappler has accused the second-generation superstar of breaking his trust and teaming up with Roman Reigns.
Looks like both Owens and Rhodes are going to embark on a long-standing, blood-filled feud down the line. What’s to say that KO doesn’t play a spoilsport and interferes next month to exact even more misery on the former AEW EVP. Rhodes ain’t going to be happy if Owens costs him the match.
3. The Bloodline cost the American Nightmare
The thing with Cody Rhodes is that he has a lot of enemies who are always waiting in the shadows to pounce upon him. Although, Solo Sikoa and his lackeys are currently focussing on Jimmy Uso and Roman Reigns, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if the new version of The Bloodline does interfere in the Crown Jewel 2024 main event. Who knows? Solo might want a third bite at the WWE championship.

2. Goldberg delivers a hammer blow to Gunther
Goldberg being back in WWE, has completely turned the table on its head. The former world champion is surely back for one last beef with an able adversary. It feels like the wrestling juggernaut is looking to pit a top guy of current times, Gunther, against him.
The seeds for this unusual rivalry were sown when the Austrian bad-mouthed Goldberg in the Bad Blood PLE earlier this month. It’s perfectly possible for the former WCW wrestler to ruin the Ring General’s night at the Crown Jewel event. If Bill ends up being the deciding factor for the main attraction, a win for Rhodes seems highly plausible.
1. The Rock interferes, to attack Cody
There’s little doubt that Cody Rhodes’ destiny is intertwined with The Rock’s. It’s only a matter of time before the two lock horns in a one-on-one match. But who’ll strike the first blow? The Final Boss seems to be the obvious answer, but when? Perhaps the Crown Jewel event! The Black Adam actor has never shown up in Saudi PLEs, and it’ll be a huge highlight if the 10-time world champion appears next month. Apart from functioning as such an eye candy, an appearance by The Rock would mark the official start of a singles feud between him and Cody. Naturally, Gunther would be the beneficiary of any such interruptions.
Wrestling purists would want to see a clean fight of wits between Rhodes and Gunther. But in order to protect two of it’s biggest assets, WWE has no choice but resort to some sort of distraction. One thing’s for sure, both Rhodes and the Ring General will have a big target on their back come Crown Jewel.
