John Cena has only four appearances left on his WWE retirement tour
Following his win over AJ Styles at Crown Jewel 2025, John Cena closed another iconic rivalry of his illustrious career in style. He now has only four appearances left on his retirement tour, with his final match set for December.
Fans have been rallying behind multiple stars with whom Cena has had feuds over his iconic career that spans over two decades.
While they have received multiple dream matches with Cena battling some of his greatest rivals in Randy Orton, CM Punk, AJ Styles, and more, there are still many dream matches they’re actively campaigning for. One such dream match has been advocated by a former WWE superstar.
Karrion Kross wants Matt Cardona to return home

Former WWE Superstar Karrion Kross recently took to his X handle to advocate for a match between Cena and current TNA star Matt Cardona, also known as Zack Ryder. “Matt Cardona VS John Cena is something that should happen before it’s too late. Let him come home.” he tweeted.
Responding to a fan who joked, “This post was made by Zack Ryder stealing Kross’s phone,” Karrion Kross clarified that he has no love lost for Matt Cardona, but acknowledged that Cardona has earned the match.
“I can’t stand Cardona and want to break his legs- but that doesn’t prevent me from seeing that he’s earned what he’s asking for. He’s a tough MFer.” Kross tweeted in responding to the fan.
Cardona’s WWE tenure ended in 2020, and he is currently under contract with TNA Wrestling. Cardona recently made his WWE return as part of the working relationship between the two promotions.
Ryder on the October 14 show of NXT made his in-ring return, battling Josh Briggs in a losing effort. Notably, Cardona’s wife and current WWE star, Chelsea Green, also advocated for his main roster, last week after the match announcement.
Cena and Cardona share an interesting history in WWE, particularly during the early 2010s, and now many fans, including Karrion Kross himself, have called for a final match between the two.
John Cena’s recent Instagram post sparks frenzy
Amid the outcry from fans, Cena recently posted a screengrab of Cardona’s appearance on the October 14 show of NXT. Known for using social media to drop subtle hints, Cena has a history of sharing unexplained images that leave followers to interpret their meaning.
On his Instagram bio, Cena has long written: “These images will be posted without explanation, for your interpretation.” This recent post likely suggests that Cena supports the growing fan demand for a match against Matt Cardona.
