Multiple plans were scrapped for “The Grandest Stage of Them All”!
The premier show of WWE, WrestleMania 42, is all set to invade the city of Las Vegas, Nevada. The Show of Shows will take place on April 18 & 19 at Allegiant Stadium, with WWE officially announcing the match cards for both nights.
However, during the road to WrestleMania, several plans were scrapped in favor of the final card. So, here are those five highly anticipated plans for WrestleMania 42 that were reportedly changed:
5. Plans for Bron Breakker’s ascent to the top
Bron Breakker was set to have a major match at this year’s WrestleMania. Moreover, reports also suggested that he was the original pick to win the 2026 Men’s Royal Rumble match.
However, the former NXT Champion sustained a hernia injury, which led to WWE switching up plans and writing him off television in the process.
4. The Vision’s major involvement
Apart from Bron Breakker, the other Vision member who went down with an unfortunate injury is Bronson Reed.
He sustained a bicep tear during an Elimination triple threat qualifying match and was ruled out of action indefinitely.
With The Vision’s powerhouses on the bench, their reported involvement in the WrestleMania 42 plans had to be drastically altered, leading to a completely different creative direction.
3. Brock Lesnar vs LA Knight
According to multiple reports, LA Knight was internally listed to be Brock Lesnar’s opponent at WrestleMania 42.
However, The Megastar’s fanbase was seemingly disappointed when Oba Femi was chosen as The Beast’s opponent, leaving him out of a major match, although he is now slated to team up with The Usos to battle The Vision’s Logan Paul, Austin Theory, and their ally, IShowSpeed at WrestleMania this year.
2. Fatal 4-Way World title match
The main feud for the Undisputed WWE title will see Cody Rhodes defend his belt against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42.
However, reports suggested that WWE initially planned a Fatal 4-Way match for the championship featuring Rhodes, Orton, Jacob Fatu, and Drew McIntyre, the reigning champion.

1. Reigns vs Rhodes III
One of the biggest blockbusters initially planned for the WrestleMania 42 card was the third match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship.
The duo delivered two of the biggest main event matches at WrestleMania 39 & 40. However, WWE scrapped those plans and placed both of them against different opponents, yet they will headline The Show of Shows on both nights.
