TNA President Carlos Silva took to social media to promote Slammiversary 2025, calling the event the company’s “greatest achievement” and saying it would be “PHENOMENAL.” That one word sent fans into a frenzy, interpreting it as a direct nod to AJ Styles’ iconic nickname.

The buzz grew even stronger when PWInsider reported that internal discussions have taken place within WWE about potentially allowing Styles to appear at the July 20 event at the UBS Arena in New York. While nothing is officially confirmed, the timing has certainly raised eyebrows.

The rumored appearance is expected to be a one-time deal. Styles is reportedly set to honor his long-standing relationship with TNA by making a special cameo, without jumping ship.

AJ Styles’ contract with WWE runs till 2026

Despite the swirling rumors, AJ Styles is not leaving WWE. The 48-year-old is currently signed to a full-time deal with the Stamford-based promotion and continues to play an active role on television.

However, there is an important caveat. Fightful Select recently reported that Styles signed a one-year extension earlier this year, keeping him under contract through early 2026. This adds weight to the idea that this could be his final chapter as an in-ring competitor.

Styles has gone on record in past interviews stating his desire to retire before 50, which now looms just around the corner.

With the countdown to 50 underway and only a year left on his current WWE deal, it’s fair to assume that Styles is entering what could be his farewell tour. A potential TNA appearance would not be a defection—but rather a heartfelt tribute to where it all began.
