The Cenation Leader will hang up his wrestling boots at the end of 2025!

Widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, John Cena has made a name for himself both inside the squared circle and, more recently, in Hollywood, where he has further cemented his status as a global star.

The Cenation Leader since transitioning to Hollywood, has appeared in part-time roles in the Stamford-based promotion. However, during last year’s Money in the Bank PLE, he announced his retirement from pro wrestling at the end of 2025.

Cena kicked off his farewell tour on the historic debut episode of Monday Night Raw on Netflix which emanated from the Intuit Dome in Inglewood on January 06. The Cenation Leader will wrestle full-time this year and will hang up his wrestling boots at the end of the year.

During his appearance on the Raw debut show, Cena also announced his intention to fight and win his 17th World title in his final year. However, after failing to win in the men’s Royal Rumble match, Cena emerged victorious in the men’s Elimination Chamber match to guarantee his title shot at WrestleMania 41 and turned heel subsequently.

John Cena is a 17-time WWE World Champion

The list of accolades John Cena has accumulated in his decades-long career includes 17 WWE World titles. He was tied with WWE legend Ric Flair as he, too, was a 16-time WWE World Champion. However, after the win against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania, Cena became the one and only 17-time WWE World Champion.

The Cenation Leader created history as he defeated Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion. With the win, Cena broke the tie with Ric Flair and became the 17-time WWE World Champion.

Apart from this, Cena has also held the United States Championship five times in his WWE career. Additionally, he is a two-time WWE Tag Team Champion and a WWE World Tag Team Champion, each with different partners.

However, when reviewing the list of titles he has held, there is one championship that has consistently eluded the Cenation Leader which is the Intercontinental title.

In order to become a WWE Grand Slam Champion a star needs to capture the WWE Championship or Universal Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, the United States Championship, and the Tag Team Titles. After the November 10, 2025 episode of Raw, where Cena defeated Dominik Mysterio to capture the IC title, Cena is now a Grand Slam Champion.
