John Cena recently announced his WWE in-ring retirement timeline
John Cena is one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time and has been the face of WWE throughout his career. Cena has been in WWE for more than 24 years and has held a total of 16 world championships in the company. After almost two and a half decades of legacy, Cena announced his retirement from WWE at Money in the Bank 2024 and announced his retirement timeline.
Ever since he announced his timeline, several WWE stars have been claiming for one last match with the GOAT. However, a new challenge has been pitched beyond WWE, where a top TNA star sets his sights on calling out Cena at TNA Slammiversary 2024.
Joe Hendry to call out John Cena at TNA Slammiversary 2024
At the TNA Slammiversary 2024 Press Conference, Joe Hendry was asked about who will be his dream opponent, after he wins the TNA World Championship this Saturday. To which Hendry said that if he wins the title at the main event, he would call out John Cena.
Joe Hendry said,
“See, I know what the answer is. But I don’t know if I was going to save it till I win the championship. But, you know what? Since you asked, when I win the TNA World Championship, I might just turn to the camera and call out John Cena,”
A day before the press conference, Hendry said the same at an interview on Talk is Jericho. Hendry strongly believes that he is going to wrestler John Cena next year, as a part of his retirement tour. He wishes to make a compelling storyline for Cena and put himself in the position for the match.
Hendry added that he has a main event match at TNA Slammiversary and he wishes to call John Cena to TNA if he wishes to cross the line. Hendry said,
“I have a world championship match at Slammiversary. I’m gonna be in the main event of Slammiversary. This is insane. I couldn’t get on a pay-per-view four months ago. And now, I’m in the main event for the world title at Slammiversary. And I’ll tell you this now…when I win the title, I’m gonna raise the title above my head, I’m gonna take the microphone, and I’m gonna say, ‘John Cena, you’ve done everything in this business. Almost everything. So if you want to cross the line… That’s what’s gonna happen.”
