The two stars share a long-standing rivalry that spans years!

On Night Two of WrestleMania, John Cena did the unthinkable and defeated Cody Rhodes in the main event to win the Undisputed WWE Championship, ending Rhodes’ reign, which began at last year’s Mania when he triumphed over Roman Reigns.

With the win, Cena cemented his legacy as the ‘Greatest of All Time’ as he has now broken the tie with Ric Flair to become the one and only 17-time WWE World Champion. Additionally, this has been the last Mania of his career as he is set to retire at the end of 2025.

Following the triumphant win, Cena, in true ‘heel’ fashion, appeared on the Raw after Mania show, which emanated from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In his appearance, Cena blasted the crowd once again pointing to their hypocrisy.

Cena also reminded everyone that he has 36 dates on his contract. He counts off the cities, and the number drops until it reaches 27. He explains that these aren’t matches, but appearances, stating that when the number reaches zero, he’s done and will take the title with him.

Cena added that while the fans might get a new champion with a new title but he’ll take this one home with all of its history. However, everything went south for Cena as Randy Orton appeared and landed a devastating RKO outta nowhere, flatlining Cena and posing with the title, teasing about what’s to come.

WWE has finally listened to the fans and delivered on their wish

While the promotion has taken the direction of reigniting the feud between Cena and Orton after a long time, many fans have already been pleading with WWE to do so. The fans were hoping to see the former rivals clash head-on, one more time, before Cena hangs up his wrestling boots.

The promotion had already teased Orton’s intention to fight for the World title after WrestleMania and win his 15th World title against Cody Rhodes. However, despite the title changing hands, the promotion’s decision to go for it has made fans very happy.

Not only does the on-screen friendship of Cody and Orton remain intact, but reigniting the historic feud between two legends is a much-needed storyline after a lukewarm WrestleMania. The only thing that is different this time around in the feud is that Orton is the good guy, and Cena is a heel, something which barely anyone ever thought would happen.

It is definitely a great time when Becky Lynch, Seth Rollins, and most of all John Cena are heels, a timeline which was barely imaginable. It will be interesting to see how the storyline between the two former rivals progresses, also with the big names that have turned heel, it would be intriguing to see their storyline progress.
