Gunther is scheduled to defend his crown at SNME 2024
According to recent reports, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunhter is in the final stages of signing a new multi-year deal with the Stamford-based promotion.
The Ring General is coming off a fresh title defense against Damian Priest in a hard-fought battle at Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 which was held in Vancouver, Canada on November 30.
This was a rematch between the two from their first meeting at SummerSlam 2024 where the Ring General defeated Priest to become the World Heavyweight Champion.
The Ring General overcame self-doubt following a loss at the hand of Cody Rhodes for the inaugural Crown Jewel title and emerged victorious solidifying his dominance and extending his title reign which is currently at 123 days.
Gunther has earned high praise from WWE officials for his exceptional in-ring work
According to reports from both Fightful Select and PWInsider, The Ring General is believed to be in the deep discussion phase of contract negotiations with the WWE. He is either at the end of discussions or has just signed a new multi-year deal with the company, the reports suggest.
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, WWE representatives indicate that pending no unexpected setbacks, Gunther’s long-term contract extension is expected to be formally finalized before year’s end.
The reports also suggest that WWE’s top brass is very impressed with the reigning Heavyweight champion and has high praises for his exceptional in-ring performances and media appearances.
“The company has been thrilled with Gunther’s performance in the ring and at media obligations. One WWE higher up referred to Gunther as among the most professional talents they had ever worked with.”
The Ring General is now scheduled to defend his title against Finn Balor at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14 in the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

The matchup was set up on the 12/02 episode of Monday Night Raw when Balor demanded a match against the Champion. Gunther declined the request as he was upset with Finn interfering during his PLE match against Priest.
Gunhter instead gave a non-title match to Dominik Mysterio who was with Finn during the backstage segment. Balor attacked Gunther after the match with Dirty Dom and landed four coup de grace battering the champion. This attack was the final blow from Finn as the champion gave Balor the title shot.
