Lineup for WWE WrestleMania 42 Night 1 ft. Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton, John Cena, Unsanctioned match & more

WrestleMania 42 Night 1 is just hours away.
WWE’s grandest stage returns to Las Vegas for the second consecutive year as WrestleMania 42 kicks off its two-night spectacle tonight at Allegiant Stadium. Also promoted as WrestleMania Vegas, the 42nd annual WrestleMania takes place on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.
Night One promises to be an unforgettable evening packed with championship gold, explosive feuds finally reaching their boiling point, and the kind of larger-than-life moments that only WrestleMania can deliver. In total, 13 matches have been confirmed for the weekend, including eight championship matches.
With the eyes of the wrestling world fixed firmly on Las Vegas, tonight sets the tone for what could be one of the most memorable WrestleMania weekends in recent memory. Fans across the globe are braced and ready. The Showcase of the Immortals is here.
What’s in store for tonight’s WWE WrestleMania 42 Night One?
Night One of WrestleMania 42 is headlined by one of the most anticipated championship showdowns of the year. Randy Orton won the Elimination Chamber match to earn a title match at WrestleMania. During the signing of the contract for the match, Cody Rhodes spoke of how much he appreciated what Orton meant to him, but Orton took this as the green light to be as sadistic as possible, slamming Cody’s head into the table.
The feud took an even more controversial turn when Pat McAfee was revealed as “the voice in Orton’s ear,” and a new stipulation states that if Orton fails to win the title, McAfee must leave the wrestling business for good.
Elsewhere on the card, Women’s Royal Rumble winner Liv Morgan will try to beat Stephanie Vaquer to win her third Women’s World Championship, in a rivalry that has grown increasingly heated.
A vicious feud rooted in months of violent betrayal reaches its brutal apex in the Unsanctioned Match between Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre, who have been at each other’s throats since Fatu cost McIntyre a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Becky Lynch is once again trying to get a win against AJ Lee and capture the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Seth Rollins takes on Gunther after the latter interfered in a Rollins attack on Paul Heyman, with Gunther claiming he found it offensive when Rollins strutted around claiming to be the best wrestler. Rounding out the night is a stacked Fatal 4-Way for the Women’s Tag Team Championships and a celebrity-fuelled six-man tag opener.

Returns expected on tonight’s show
WrestleMania is always a prime destination for surprise returns, and Night One is no exception. After officially retiring from in-ring competition in December 2025, John Cena is confirmed to return as the official host of WWE WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
While Cena is not scheduled to compete, his presence across both nights will be felt. There has been no official confirmation of The Rock returning, but long-term rumors have persisted about WWE wanting Hollywood crossover star power on the biggest weekend of the year.
Stone Cold Steve Austin is also among the names rumoured to potentially make a special appearance at WrestleMania 42.
