The build towards WWE’s greatest summer event has begun!

The countdown to the 38th edition of SummerSlam has begun, and WWE has kicked off the countdown in style as they have started revealing the top 25 greatest matches in the PLE’s history.

The 2025 edition of the show is scheduled to take place as a two-night event on Saturday, August 2, and Sunday, August 3, 2025. The show will emanate live from the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, U.S.A.

It will be the 38th edition of the PLE since its inception in 1988, and the first SummerSlam to take place across two nights, a special privilege which was only reserved for WrestleMania.

This will be the first SummerSlam to broadcast on Netflix in international markets (except few) and the final appearance for the 17-time WWE World Champion John Cena. He will defend the Undisputed title in a rematch against Cody Rhodes at the show.

As mentioned above, over the next twenty-five days, the Stamford-based promotion will be counting down the 25 greatest SummerSlam matches of all time. The matches will be uploaded to their official YouTube channel.

The singles clash between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar from the 2023 edition has secured the 25th spot in the list. This is also Lesnar’s last appearance as he has since been absent from WWE programming.
