Tonight’s episode of SmackDown will emanate from the Wells Fargo Arena!

Tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown will emanate live from the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa, USA. The promotion will continue the build towards the upcoming Backlash PLE, which will follow WrestleMania 41 to further the storylines and feuds.

The 2025 edition of the PLE will take place on Saturday, May 10, at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri. While the promotion has announced multiple matches for the show, the card continues to take shape, and similar to this week’s Raw, matches will likely be announced on SmackDown tonight.

Here are the top four potential matches that General Manager Nick Aldis can announce tonight for the Backlash PLE.

4. Jade Cargill vs Naomi

Jade Cargill got her revenge on Naomi for the brutal attack, pinning her former best friend at WrestleMania 41. After the victory, Cargill appeared ready to move on, shifting her focus to the WWE Women’s Championship.

/However, Naomi wasn’t finished, as she ambushed Jade last week, making it clear that their feud is far from over. Aldis can announce a rematch between the two for May 10 at the PLE.

3. Women’s United States title rematch

Zelina Vega surprised everyone last week when she pinned Chelsea Green to become the new Women’s United States Champion. While Vega was struggling earlier, the absence of the Secret Hervice in their previous singles match and last week’s match helped her as she finally captured her first singles title.

However, Green has been demanding for a rematch ever since the loss and Aldis might give in on the former Champions demands and announced a rematch for the title at Backlash.

2. Tiffany Stratton vs Nia Jax

After Naomi ambushed Cargill, WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton, who was battling Cargill in a singles match, confronted her. However, she was herself then ambushed by a former friend in Nia Jax, who made her devastating return, flatlining the champion.

Apart from a forgettable rematch, the promotion has not really focused on the storyline between the two former friends, they can do so now ahead of May 10th.

1. Fatal-four way for the United States Championship

The newly crowned United States Champion, Jacob Fatu, once again displayed his dominance last week by single-handedly taking out LA Knight, Damian Priest, and Drew McIntyre during a #1 contender’s match between Knight and McIntyre. The match ended in a disqualification after Priest ambushed McIntyre

The rising stock of the new US Champion, coupled with a fatal-four way clash involving Priest, McIntyre, and Knight, would be an amazing addition to the Backlash card.
