WWE Raw is debuting on Netflix on January 06

The Stamford-based promotion is all set for Monday Night Raw‘s debut on the streaming platform Netflix. Apart from the regular programming, the platform will also become the home for all WWE shows and specials outside the U.S.

The debut episode of Monday Night RAW on Netflix will officially be held on January 6, 2025. The venue for the premier show will be the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.

The debut episode of the Red brand features several top stars from the roster including, John Cena, Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes, Bianca Belair, and ‘The OTC’ Roman Reigns.

For the first time ever, the Red brand will exclusively air on a streaming platform, marking a historic departure from traditional cable television. This shift is expected to grant WWE unparalleled creative liberties.

The transition to Netflix gives WWE an unprecedented level of freedom

WWE President Nick Khan confirmed this week during the Netflix HQ event that the program will remain a PG product on the streaming giant as the promotion has no plans to change the rating of their program and they will keep the show family as well as advertised friendly.

However, the partnership will introduce a more relaxed approach to curse words and profanity, allowing more uncensored language from the crowd to make it to the air.

Traditionally, crowd chants with curse words have often been bleeped out in recent years. In some cases, like during Friday Night SmackDown‘s final months on FOX network, the broadcast would even briefly go dark to avoid airing explicit language.

According to Wrestling Observer Live, the bleeping of profanity would occur less on Netflix compared to TV broadcasts. Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live that there will be “less bleeping out of crowd chants” on the streaming platform.

“I don’t know this 100 percent but I’m probably about 99 percent sure the one thing you will see different when they go to Netflix is less bleeping out of crowd chants,

There was a deal a while ago where there had been some discussion about Raw maybe going to TV-14 or something like that. Of course, it didn’t happen but people were all excited. I was told literally the reason they wanted to explore that had nothing to do with any of the content of the show but they hate having to completely bleep and silence the crowd when they chant profanities. I think on Netflix that will end but as far as the rest of it, it’s gonna be just like it is right now. There’s not gonna be any naked women or whatever you saw back in the ’90s.” Alvarez said.

The Stamford-based promotion has major plans for the debut show as the shift has given them way more creative freedom. Along with multiple top WWE stars, hip-hop icon Travis Scott is also scheduled to appear in the debut show.

The promotion also has plans to increase celebrity involvement once the Red brand debuts on the streaming giant next month. Triple H also stated that the Netflix era will be a game-changer for the promotion, and even declared that WWE’s ongoing era is more significant than the Attitude Era.
