Nic Nemeth comments on the state of WWE-TNA partnership amid online speculations

In January 2025, WWE and TNA announced a multi-year partnership aimed at creating unprecedented crossover opportunities. The partnership saw stars from both promotions make crossover appearances and partake in storylines.
The partnership did help TNA secure a significant television and streaming agreement in the United States last December with AMC. TNA President Carlos Silva noted that the company’s partnership with WWE played a major role in finalizing that deal.
However, in recent times, the crossover has become few and far between. While NXT stars recently participated in the tournament to crown the Knockouts Television champion, TNA stars have not made appearances in NXT or even the main roster.

Dave Meltzer of WON has speculated that WWE may have scaled back its collaboration with TNA because TNA was unable to land a Wednesday night television slot intended to disrupt AEW.
Since TNA didn’t significantly impact AEW, the Stamford-based promotion appears to be moving away from the alliance, a shift highlighted by their absence at TNA’s recent PPV Bound for Glory.
Even the recent announcement of the list of teams for the 2026 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic did not feature any tag team from TNA. After the snub in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, TNA World Champion and Tag Team Champion Nic Nemeth has spoken about the status of the partnership.

Speaking with Adrian Hernandez, Nic Nemeth acknowledged that while missing the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic did not bother him personally due to his busy schedule, he views it as a missed opportunity for TNA’s representation. Nemeth also noted how the crossover led to multiple memorable moments.
“[Not being in The Dusty] doesn’t [bother him personally] because myself and my brother are comically busy at the moment. But it does — as a TNA wrestler… yeah, it does, because there’s a relationship there. We’ve had some moments where we got a lot of NXT people who were brand new, gave them a shot, gave them some TV time, got those reps in. It would be nice to see it replicated.
But of course, it’s not always the time and place for it. There were times for months where we were going back and forth, all over NXT, our guys and gals were. And all over TNA, NXT guys and gals were. And some people were going to Raw and SmackDown, and it led to Leon Slater getting some cool moments and Joe Hendry getting some cool stuff, when he was still with us.
The World Champion also expressed hope for future collaboration between the two promotions, noting the mutual benefit to both WWE and TNA.
“So all of those moments can still happen, and they will when the time is right. It would be great to be represented out there, but also, I’m super busy right now. And I am not interested in doing NXT as the [TNA] World Champion and Tag Team Champion. But down the line, I would love to see more of an interaction if we continue that relationship because it was really fruitful for both sides.”
