WWE Universe is highly speculating about the final opponents for John Cena after he announced his retirement timeline.

John Cena’s surprise appearance at the 2024 WWE Money in the Bank PLE shocked the entire world. The 16-time WWE Champion announced that he is set to retire from the squared circle, with his retirement tour set to kick off in 2025.

With the last leg of John Cena’s career beginning next year, here are the top five potential matches that the WWE Universe can see before The Face that Runs the Place rides off in the sunset for good.

5. Uncle Howdy

With John Cena retiring from WWE in 2025, the company could utilize the star power of Cena to build up the stars of the future, and a top prospect in the conversation is the terrorizing force on RAW, Uncle Howdy. Cena has a deep connection with his family, being involved in memorable feuds with Howdy’s late brother, Bray Wyatt, in his career, including two WrestleMania encounters. So, a match and potential win over John Cena in his final run could be a major boost to Uncle Howdy’s emerging career in WWE.

4. CM Punk

John Cena and CM Punk have one of the most storied rivalries in the history of WWE. The duo have been involved in multiple bouts against each other in the early 2010s. Moreover, Punk’s rise to the main event status came at the expense of Cena, who defeated him in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois, at the 2011 WWE Money in the Bank to win the WWE title. Before Cena puts his career to rest, WWE Universe can surely enthralled with one last time seeing him collide against The Best in the World.

3. Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes has claimed on multiple occasions that John Cena had a significant impact on his career, going from a mid-card talent to rising as the golden goose of WWE. Cena even played a pivotal role in helping Cody Rhodes ‘Finish The Story’ at WrestleMania 40. With his career ending next year, WWE could plan this passing of the torch showdown between the former and current face of WWE, pitting Rhodes against Cena for a blockbuster showdown.

2. The Rock

The WWE Universe came unglued, witnessing The Rock and John Cena come face-to-face in a significant moment at WrestleMania 40. The duo have been a part of two of the greatest WrestleMania main events in the history of WWE, and the fans would like nothing more than to witness The Final Boss and The Cenation Leader collide in a third mega showdown to see who emerges on top as the ultimate victor.

1. Randy Orton

If there is a conversation regarding John Cena’s greatest rival in WWE, the one name that clinches the top spot is none other than Randy Orton. Both men came from OVW in 2002 and had very similar yet completely different paths on their way to stardom.

Moreover, The Viper has claimed that he would like to face Cena one more time at WrestleMania. Therefore, the John Cena retirement tour could see a high-profile battle against his greatest foe in a match to be remembered for the ages.
