Karrion Kross has rarely featured on WWE television in recent times!

Despite his massive popularity on social media, WWE’s hesitation to push Karrion Kross has irked fans who have on multiple occasions voiced their anger. Kross is not only getting proper screen time and a meaningful match on television, but he’s also set for a bout at a premium live event.

Kross had been mostly limited to a few backstage segments and a handful of matches, especially since February, when his stable, the Final Testament, was disbanded and multiple members, including Akom, Rezar, and Paul Ellering, were released.

Kross mostly competed in WWE Main Event, despite massive demands from fans. While many have pointed towards the fact that Kross’ contract with the promotion is set to expire toward the end of summer, and this might be the reason why WWE is hesitant to push him. However, a veteran journalist has provided another likely reason for the promotion’s hesitation.

What Happened?

On a recent PWTorch post-Raw podcast, Veteran journalist Wade Keller stated that there might be a more unusual reason that the promotion is hesitant in pushing Kross, which might be his apparent refusal to take flat back bumps.

“I talked about this when he was all the rage in NXT and coming out of TNA. I was like, ‘wrestlers are telling me when he gets to the main roster, nobody’s gonna put up with the fact that he doesn’t take bumps.’ “

Keller stated that Kross’ favoring one side while taking bumps might cause an injury, noting that he is unaware if Kross is already dealing with a pre-existing injury or is just scared.

“He’s scared to bump. He doesn’t flat back bump. I don’t know if he’s got an injury or a concern. [Kross] favours one side, which can cause an injury, so I don’t know if he has a pre-existing condition or he’s just not comfortable taking bumps. I don’t know, I don’t have the inside story on that.“

Keller also revealed that several talents believe Karrion Kross is unlikely to become a major star, citing his reported reluctance to take bumps as a key reason. They also pointed to his height, suggesting that his gimmick relies on him appearing taller than his opponents to compensate for his limited in-ring movement.

“But I know wrestlers who I chat with about things when I want wrestlers’ insight are like: ‘Oh right, Wade, you’re right when you say Karrion Kross won’t be a big star on the main roster, but one of the reasons you are missing out is just watch his next match. He just doesn’t really take bumps.

It’s not that he’s slow or plodding, or he’s not that tall compared to the rosters in TNA and NXT, where his gimmick kinda he needs to be taller than his opponent to make up for the fact that he’s not creating movement. Lot of things are working against him. But, all that said, I find this current character delightful.”

The bigger picture

Amid speculation, WWE has finally decided to give Kross a big stage as he is set to battle Sami Zayn in a singles match at the upcoming Night of Champions 2025, which is set for June 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The news was met very positively among fans; however, clips of Kross not taking a flat back bump soon started to go viral on social media. Some fans did point out Kross taking such a bump as expected in those same matches.

Karrion Kross still remains uber popular, and the promotion should at least give him a proper push, which might also help him improve, putting all the doubts to rest. This is also his first singles match at a PLE in a very long time, which signals a massive push from the promotion; what comes of it remains to be seen.

Who do you think will emerge victorious in the clash at Night of Champions? What is your opinion on Karrion Kross apparently refusing to take flat back bumps? Voice your opinions in the comments section.
