R-Truth vs Damian Priest reached its boiling point in Sacramento.
Last night’s SmackDown presented a fallout show following Money in the Bank 2026 PLE, one of which was R-Truth’s match against his former Tag team partner and buddy, Damian Priest. The unexpected occurrence caused the eagerly anticipated match to be stopped abruptly, leaving everyone worried about the condition of R Truth.
The match was a continuation of the rivalry that exists between the two men, who had a falling out after Priest betrayed Truth in September.
After failing to win the AAA World Tag Team Championship away from The War Raiders on September 11, Priest chokeslammed Truth with his South of Heaven move, ending their tag team. As their animosity grew, they were booked for a singles match at SmackDown in Sacramento, California.

What occurred during the match? How did R-Truth get injured?
R-Truth and Damian Priest’s match started off on fire as R-Truth assaulted Priest prior to the bell sounding in order to get ahead. Priest eventually got his revenge as he utilized his strength to slow down the veteran and hit him with strikes and submission moves.
Truth fought back and found an opening to launch a missile dropkick from the turnbuckle. However, after connecting with the move, he remained down on the canvas, prompting the referee to check on him. Truth appeared to be conscious and moving, but the official quickly called for the match to be stopped.
The contest was subsequently awarded to Priest via referee stoppage. The ending was particularly concerning because the stoppage per False Finish differed from the planned finish, suggesting that the incident was not part of the storyline. The outlet also claimed that Truth suffered a legitimate injury.
Following the bell, Damian Priest grabbed a steel chair and appeared ready to continue his assault on Truth. Before he could do so, Axiom and Nathan Frazer, collectively known as Fraxiom, rushed to the ring to protect Truth. Priest eventually dropped the chair and left the area. The abrupt conclusion shifted the focus away from the rivalry and towards Truth’s well-being.
