The Second City Saint is set to battle Gunther at SummerSlam!
‘The Second City Saint’ CM Punk won the gauntlet match on this week’s Monday Night Raw to secure the number one contender’s spot for the World Heavyweight title. He is now set to battle Gunther for the title at the upcoming PLE, SummerSlam.
The 2025 edition of SummerSlam is scheduled to take place as a two-night event on August 2 and 3. It will emanate live from the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, U.S.A.
CM Punk recalls the moment he realized that he was ‘a top guy’
The Second City Saint teamed up with Rhea Ripley to promote the upcoming WWE Unreal in a recent ESPN interview. During the interview, both stars were asked about the moment they knew they’d made it. Ripley went first, citing her 2018 Mae Young Classic match against Iyo Sky as the turning point.
On the other hand, Punk shared a heartfelt yet unconventional moment when he realized that he was ‘a top guy’. While sharing the story, Punk also pointed out how WWE now provides many more facilities for superstars behind the scenes, but when he was in developmental, all talent had was a single makeup table.
“It used to be one makeup lady, her name was Jan. Not the nicest lady in the world. This is how I knew I made it. My first time, I was under contract, I was in Ohio Valley wrestling in the developmental, and I was brought up to do a dark match, pre-television match.
I found a spray bottle that was in the makeup case and I was wetting my hair and I hear down the hallway like all these explicatives, like a sailor was yelling at me. I turned around, and it’s Jan. And she’s like, ‘What do you think you’re doing? That’s for talent. Put it down.’ And I was like, ‘okay.’ I just quietly tiptoed away.”
Punk became one of the big names on the main roster in 2011, capturing the World Heavyweight title for the third time along with other accolades. However, the realization came when he met Jan again in 2011.
“So that’s 2005 and like 2011, CM Punk becomes hottest superstar in the business, and Jan walks up to me one day and goes, ‘How come you never come see me? You know I can cut your hair, right?’ And I was like, ‘I made it. I’m a top guy now.’”

Jelly Roll was the guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week
‘The Viper’ Randy Orton made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week. The show was guest-hosted by country star and fellow Tennessee native, Jelly Roll, for an interesting discussion that took an emotional turn when Orton was asked about his favorite match.
Reflecting on a key moment in his career, the Viper chose his 2004 Hardcore Match against Mick Foley as the match that truly solidified his place in fans’ eyes. The match took place at Backlash, and the Intercontinental title was on the line.
“Gosh, I’ve been asked that before and that’s a very hard question because I’ve had a lot of matches I consider to be like up there as my favorite,” Orton began. “When I was 24 years old, I wrestled Mick Foley at Backlash in a hardcore match. This is in 2004.
That match probably was the most important one in my career because the fans saw me put myself and put my body through something they had never seen me put my body through before. It was a very physical match. Lots of blood, lots of sweat, some tears. I think I earned the fans’ respect that night. From then on, I could tell something was different in the air when I would walk through that curtain.”
Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul shortly interrupted the interview, leading to a brawl, which ended in Jelly Roll slamming Paul through the desk.
