WWE calls up another NXT star to the main roster

WWE has been making major changes to the company in recent times in the hiring, firing, superstar shakeup, NXT call up and more. More than any year, the NXT played a major role and we witnessed a number of NXT stars moving to the main roster and making a huge impact.

WWE NXT stars such as Bron Breakker, Tiffany Stratton, Carmelo Hayes, Ilja Dragunov, Lyra Valkyria and others have already started their role and are making major impacts for their roster. Although the rosters are settled, WWE has announced yet another NXT call-up, however this time for the Announcement team.

Shawn Michaels confirms Alicia Taylor’s main roster call-up

Corey Brennan of Fightful Select previously reported that Mike Rome will be returning to NXT as the official Ring Announcer for the first time since 2019. The report also revealed that NXT Ring Announcer Alicia Taylor will be moving to the SmackDown brand as a counter trade.

Following the backstage scoop, Shawn Michaels on his X/Twitter confirmed the main roster call-up with a video after the May 7th episode of NXT went off the air and a heartful send-off message.

Shawn Michaels on X wrote,  “An irreplaceable part of the soundtrack for countless unforgettable WWE NXT moments, and now she’s bringing her unending passion to SmackDown. @AliciaTaylorNXT, thank you for everything you’ve brought to the #NXTUniverse… and congratulations on your next step! #WeAreNXT”

Michaels on the video made the announcement that “We are parting away with unbelievably talented, but more important than that incredible and more incredible, genuine human beings. Sometimes great things happen to great people & Alicia here is now, [much deserving] going to the main roster”

Michaels then presented Alicia Taylor with an NXT Championship title for her five-year long journey with the brand, beginning in 2018. As she was awarded with the title the whole NXT officials gathered there applauded to give her a farewell.

Alicia Taylor retweeted Michaels’ tweet and thanked him with emotions. Alicia Taylor wrote, “Thank you @ShawnMichaels and thank you… @WWENXT”

She will be serving as the Ring Announcer for SmackDown and Samantha Irwin will be serving as the Ring announcer for Raw. This is a historic move by the company as they made two two black women the official ring announcers for the main roster WWE programming.
