WWE looking for major shake-up.
The Stamford-based promotion is not only adding the John Cena Classic annual event to its schedule but could be heading towards another significant change in its creative department. Rumors mentioned that Bruce Prichard plans to retire from his current job as Executive Director of Creative Writing and Talent at WrestleMania 43 Season in 2027.
The firm already has a replacement in mind, as reports suggest that Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels is lined up to take over the major backstage role. The development could mark the beginning of a wider restructuring within the company’s creative leadership, potentially bringing several familiar names into more influential positions.

Shawn Michaels reportedly set to replace Bruce Prichard
According to PWInsider, the organization intends to elevate Michaels internally to become the new Executive Director of Creative Writing and Talent. The transfer is said to be scheduled after WrestleMania 43 in 2027, though preparations for the same might start within the next few months.
Michaels is currently working with the promotion as the Senior Vice President of Talent Development and Creative in charge of the NXT brand. Since September 2021, he has been involved in NXT because of his association with the developmental brand since the time when Paul “Triple H” Levesque stepped down from his previous role at NXT.
It is expected that Michaels will start getting ready for his new role within the next few months. It must be noted that his connection with Triple H could come in handy in the future.
As for outgoing Prichard, who has been with the company during the 1990s, the executive is expected to move into a consulting position after stepping away from his current responsibilities. He could continue working with the company remotely from his home in Texas rather than remaining involved in its everyday creative operations.
Talking about the NXT position that Michaels will leave, reports hint at AJ Styles taking over the position and becoming more hands-on with NXT. The Phenomenal One has been involved in talent scouting and other backstage responsibilities. His experience as a former Champion and one of the most accomplished performers of his generation could make him a valuable addition to the developmental system.
Shawn Michaels’ promotion could have a massive impact in WWE
The Heartbreak Kid has established himself as an important figure in WWE beyond his legendary wrestling career. His work with NXT has involved developing young performers, shaping storylines, and helping prepare emerging talent for the main roster.
Now moving to an operations position on the main roster, he could become an even more influential figure in the firm’s overall creative structure. However, it remains to be seen how much freedom he will receive and whether his appointment will bring noticeable changes to the storytelling across RAW and SmackDown.
For now, there is no official announcement about the reported appointments or the expected restructuring. Nevertheless, with WrestleMania 43 potentially serving as the turning point, the coming months could be important in determining the company’s next creative leadership structure.
