After weeks of persisting, Charlotte Flair gives in and forms a tag team with Alexa Bliss

WWE pulled off a surprise at the July 4th tapings of SmackDown, as Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss officially teamed up to form an unlikely alliance.

The duo scored a win in a qualifying match and will now compete at the upcoming WWE Evolution premium live event in a Fatal Four-Way for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

The episode, taped immediately after this week’s RAW, was scheduled early due to the Fourth of July holiday.

While fans won’t see the show air live on Friday, the outcomes have already generated plenty of buzz, none more so than Flair’s decision to join forces with Bliss in pursuit of tag team gold.

Nick Aldis makes the offer to Charlotte Flair

During a backstage segment, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis approached Charlotte Flair with a golden opportunity.

He informed her that if she could find a partner and win a qualifying match, she’d earn a shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at Evolution.

Flair, a 14-time world champion with little history of forming alliances, accepted on the condition that she could choose someone she’s known a long time, despite not being close onscreen.

That someone turned out to be Alexa Bliss, a former multi-time champion in her own right who hadn’t wrestled in a televised match for several months.

In what marked their in-ring debut as a tag team, Flair and Bliss competed in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match against Secret Service and the team of Michin & B-Fab. Despite their differences in style and attitude, the newly formed duo showcased strong chemistry and secured a decisive win to book their place at Evolution.

This marks the first time Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss have officially joined forces in tag team competition. Their partnership could shake up the women’s division, especially with Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez now holding the titles after Liv Morgan’s injury forced a change.

A new threat in the women’s tag team division

With their star power and championship pedigree, Flair and Bliss instantly become frontrunners heading into Evolution. Whether their alliance is built to last remains to be seen, but it’s clear they’ll be a major threat in the Fatal Four-Way.

One thing is for sure: the Women’s Tag Team division just got a whole lot more interesting.
