WrestleMania is WWE‘s biggest annual event, and headlining it is a significant achievement for any wrestler. Only a handful of wrestlers have had the chance to main event multiple WrestleManias, solidifying their legacy as true icons in the wrestling world. These individuals have not only showcased their in-ring prowess but also their ability to captivate audiences and carry the main event spotlight on multiple occasions.

Among the various performers who have graced the WrestleMania stage, these select few have repeatedly closed the show, emphasizing their status as top-tier superstars. Whether due to their undeniable star power, their ability to draw crowds, or simply because they were the undeniable face of the company at the time, these wrestlers have left an indelible mark on the history of WrestleMania.

Here are all WWE Superstars to main event WrestleMania more than once:

Kevin Owens (2)

Kevin Owens headlined WrestleMania on two occasions: the first at WrestleMania 38, when he battled “Stone Cold” Steve Austin in a one-time match 19 years after Austin’s retirement, and the second at WrestleMania 39, when he paired with Zayn to fight The Usos.

Macho Man (2)

Randy Savage, or “Macho Man,” deserves to have more than two WrestleMania main events to his name. The difficulty was that he was competing for the top slot with Hulk Hogan.

Yokozuna (2)

Yokozuna is difficult. He defeated Bret Hart in the main event of WrestleMania IX due to on-screen antics but then lost to Hogan the same night due to backstage shenanigans. Does this count as two? It’s up to you. However, the following year, he did lose to Hart in the main event of WrestleMania X.

Sycho Sid (2)

During his time in the WWF and WCW, Eudy headlined several pay-per-view events, including WrestleMania VIII and WrestleMania 13 in 1992 and 1997, respectively, as well as Starrcade in 2000.

Randy Orton (2)

Orton has main evented WrestleMania twice once in a triple threat match and once against Triple H, which he both lost.

Daniel Bryan (2)

Like Batista and Orton Bryan has main evented WrestleMania twice in which he won the WWE Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania 30.

Batista (2)

Batista has one win and one loss to his WrestleMania main event credit, having defeated Triple H at WrestleMania 21.

Edge (2)

Edge is also, one of the few to get a chance to main event at WrestleMania twice and one of the lucky few.

Cody Rhodes (3)

The American Nightmare main evented WrestleMania 39 but ended up on the losing side against Roman Reigns. But Rhodes won the men’s Royal Rumble 2024 and main evented both nights of WrestleMania 40.

Bret Hart (3)

During his original 13-year career with WWE, Hart won five World Championships. Hart’s first world title run ended abruptly at WrestleMania IX, when Yokozuna beat him. Hart performed well in WrestleMania X, opening the program as a show-stealer against his brother Owen.

He lost the bout, but closed the program with his arms up as he won his revenge and the championship against Yokozuna. That was not the case when Hart appeared in the main event for the final time, losing to Shawn Michaels in a 60-minute Iron Man bout at WrestleMania XII.

Stone Cold (4)

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin is widely regarded as the greatest professional wrestler of all time. However, he has only been in four WrestleMania main events (three of which were in his heyday). Blame it on injuries, since Austin’s main event run lasted only five years, from 1998 to 2003, with him missing nearly two years due to neck surgery (2000) and stepping out (2002).

Austin, on the other hand, holds an even more astounding record than the amount of main event appearances: he is the only wrestler to never lose in the main event at WrestleMania, despite making many appearances.

Shawn Michaels (5)

Shawn Michaels lived up to his self-proclaimed monikers “The Main Event” and “Mr. WrestleMania,” having been in five WrestleMania main events, the most of which were multi-star classics. He is tied for the worst WrestleMania main event record, having lost all but one of his five outings.

His first WrestleMania WWE Title bout came against his buddy and former bodyguard Diesel at WrestleMania XI, but Lawrence Taylor vs. Bam Bam Bigelow ended the event.HBK and Bret Hart received those distinctions at WrestleMania XII, when Michaels won his first Mania main event and world championship.

The Rock (5)

Johnson has only won one WrestleMania main event in his five tries. You read that correctly… only one. Why? It’s all down to the narratives. At WrestleMania XV, he faced Steve Austin as the corporate bad guy, a match he deserved to lose.

His next defeat was in a Fatal Four-way at WrestleMania 2000 (XVI) against Triple H, Mick Foley, and The Big Show, a match he certainly should’ve won, but his triumph over Triple H the following month garnered a massive buyrate, so there’s that. The Rock last main evented mania against John Cena.

John Cena (5)

Cena was forced to settle for a sub-main event at WrestleMania 21, earning the WWE Title from JBL, which he successfully defended against Triple H the following year at WrestleMania 22, Cena’s first “Mania major event, amid a chorus of hate from the Chicago audience. Cena tapped out the Game and HBK in the main event at WrestleMania 23, giving him a 4-0 record at WrestleMania, including a 2-0 mark in the main event.

Surprisingly, following WrestleMania 23, Cena did not return to the main event until WrestleMania XXVII, when he lost to The Miz, who was actually there to build up Cena vs. The Rock at WrestleMania XXVIII…which he also lost! Cena’s final main event (for the time being) was a rematch with The Rock at WrestleMania XXIX, which he won to improve his WrestleMania main event record to 3-2.

Brock Lesnar (5)

Brock Lesnar has five WrestleMania major events, matching Cena’s total. The Beast Incarnate headlined WrestleMania XIX for the first time, defeating Kurt Angle for the WWE Championship. His second main event appearance in 12 years occurred at WrestleMania 31 against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. Brock Lesnar’s third Mania big event came at WrestleMania 34, when he beat Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship.

Brock Lesnar’s fourth big event at WrestleMania 36 Night 2, when he lost the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre. Lesnar’s most recent Mania main event appearance was at WrestleMania 38, when he was defeated by Roman Reigns in a Champion versus Champion Winner takes all match.

The Undertaker (5)

“The Phenom” The Undertaker wrestled most of the WrestleMania contests and had a long winning run. However, The Undertaker has headlined WrestleMania five times. The Deadman fought Edge at WrestleMania 24 for the World Heavyweight Championship. At WrestleMania 25, there were three main event matches, one of which included Undertaker and Shawn Michaels.

At WrestleMania 26, the team clashed with Career and Streak in line. After his streak ended, his first big event match was against Roman Reigns, who defeated him once more. At WrestleMania 36 Night 1, he beat AJ Styles in a dramatic bout that also served as the Phenom’s farewell.

Triple H (7)

“The Game” Triple H has been in the main event of WrestleMania seven times. He competed in the second-most WrestleMania matches, winning and losing the most simultaneously.

Hulk Hogan (8)

At WrestleMania 1, Hulk Hogan faced King Kong Bundy. Then came Andre The Giant at WrestleMania III, Randy Savage at WrestleMania V, Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania VI, Sgt. Slaughter at WrestleMania VII, and Sycho Sid at WrestleMania VII in the main event.

Roman Reigns (9)

Reigns has headlined a number of pay-per-view events, including seven WrestleManias (31, 32, 33, 34, 37, 38, 39 and 40). In addition, he was named first on Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s annual PWI 500 list of the top 500 singles wrestlers in both 2016 and 2022.
