The 39-year-old competes in the Heavyweight division
Derrick Lewis is an American Mixed Martial Artist, who competes in the Heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The Black Beast has been in MMA since 2010 and in UFC since 2013. He holds a record of 27 wins and 22 losses in his 40 matches. He is known for his knockouts, holding the record for most knockouts in UFC history and has the second most wins in UFC Heavyweight division history.
The 39-year-old is all set to face Rodrigo Nascimento this Saturday at UFC on ESPN 56 in St. Louis, Missouri, where they main event the show. Ahead of their big-beefy bout, Derrick Lewis opened up on moving to WWE.
Derrick Lewis to move to WWE?
Derrick Lewis at the UFC Fight Night Press Conference ahead of his main event fight with Rodrigo Nascimento this Saturday was asked about a possible collaboration with WWE. The Black Beast revealed that he indeed had talks with WWE for a few months now. He said that he was supposed to be at WWE in February 2024 to check out things.
Derrick Lewis said,
“Yeah, we are actually in talks right now and we’ve been talking for a few months now. I was supposed to go down there in February to check everything out.”
Lewis was then asked about what could be his potential finisher in WWE. To which he said that it would be something like Rikishi’s Stinkface and said that we might see him take his shorts off if he goes there.
Lewis said,
“It had to be something like Rikishi you know, you might see it man you know somehow I like taking off my shorts so we might see something like that.”
We have seen a number of stars from the MMA background stepping inside the WWE ring, where some have achieved great success. Since WWE & UFC were brought under the same umbrella in 2023, there was a huge speculation about the potential cross-over.
If Lewis makes the move to WWE, it would be the first step to open the door for future crossovers. Previously we’ve seen Michael Chandler stepping foot inside the WWE arena and calling out Conor McGregor.
