According to WWE insider Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, AJ Lee’s name has indeed been mentioned in creative discussions behind the scenes.

“AJ Lee has in fact, been brought up in numerous pitches internally in WWE, I have learned,” Sapp reported, confirming what fans have long speculated, that her return is at least being discussed at the highest level.

Lee, whose real name is April Jeanette Mendez, retired from professional wrestling in 2015, just days after WrestleMania 31.

At the time, she cited injuries and a desire to pursue writing and advocacy work outside the ring. Despite her decade-long absence, her connection to CM Punk and her immense popularity ensure that her name continues to carry weight in the industry.

Signs teased at WWE Clash in Paris

Fueling the speculation even further, a fan in the Paris La Défense Arena was spotted holding a sign that read: “CM Punk, bring back AJ Lee.” The cameras captured Punk reacting to the placard by glaring at it and shaking his head in frustration.
