John Laurinaitis will provide evidence against Vince McMahon.
Former WWE executive John Laurinaitis has been legally removed from the ‘sex trafficking lawsuit’ filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant.
The lawsuit, brought against WWE and its former Chairman and CEO, Vince McMahon, is being heard in the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut.
In a recent twist, Laurinaitis was dismissed from the case, and according to rumors, he agreed to a private settlement deal and will now work with Grant’s legal team.
Previously, in January 2024, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit accusing Vince McMahon of sexual misconduct, including coerced sexual relationships, sex trafficking, and many sexual assaults. Aside from McMahon, Janel sued former CEO John Laurinaitis.
John Laurinatis was apparently removed from Janel Grant’s case after agreeing to submit evidence and work with Grant’s legal team. In a statement to POST Wrestling, Grant’s agents acknowledged Laurinaitis’ involvement in the settlement.
“John Laurinaitis has agreed to cooperate and provide evidence in Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE. His agreement to a confidential settlement is a pivotal next step toward holding McMahon and WWE accountable and bringing justice to Ms. Grant after years of sexual abuse and trafficking. Mr. Laurinaitis looks forward to moving on with his life. We cannot provide any additional details at this time.”
Jessica Rosenberg, a lawyer for McMahon, in a statement said, “Today’s dismissal of John Laurinaitis as a defendant doesn’t alter the facts of this case in any way.”
“Vince McMahon never mistreated Janel Grant. No matter how many press releases her team issues, the truth remains unchanged. As Mr. Laurinaitis’s lawyer previously said: ‘Mr. Laurinaitis corroborates Mr. McMahon in publicly declaring that Ms. Grant’s allegations of sexual abuse and coercion in her Complaint are completely unfounded.’ ”
Furthermore, the defendants are anticipated to submit requests to remove the matter from public court and into private arbitration by June 13.
Regarding Laurinaitis, the 62-year-old was a brief on-screen authority figure for WWE who also held executive positions backstage. He also served as the Head of Talent Relations till 2022. However, it appears that the latter is not going to be associated with the case for long.
