John Cena will defend the Undisputed title in a street fight against Cody Rhodes!

‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes emerged victorious in the King of the Ring tournament finals against Randy Orton to bag the #1 Contender spot for the Undisputed WWE title. He is now set to battle the current Champion John Cena in a rematch at SummerSlam.

The two stars will meet in the main event of the night two of the 2025 edition in a street fight. Cena defeated Rhodes in their last meeting at WrestleMania 41 to capture the title and break the tie with Ric Flair to become the one and only 17-time WWE World Champion.

Rhodes is looking to recapture the title and exact revenge for the humiliating loss while John Cena wants to continue his streak and retire with the title to follow on his promise of ‘ruining wrestling for fans.’

Street Fight rules

In WWE, a Street Fight is a hardcore match with no disqualifications, no countouts, and no limits on weapons or outside interference. Weapons such as trash cans, kendo sticks, steel chairs, tables, and more can be used during the match.

This is an all-out brawl that can spill in and out of the ring, often involving the use of various objects. The match is decided by pinfall, submission, or knockout.

Street fights are sometimes named after the host city, like “Chicago Street Fight” or “New York Street Fight.” Such was the case during WrestleMania 41 clash between Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest, which was dubbed, ‘Sin City Street Fight’ as the PLE was taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The most recent Street Fight to take place in WWE was the clash between Rhea Ripley and Raquel Rodriguez at Night of Champions 2025. The 11th Night of Champions and took place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Ripley defeated Rodriguez via pinfall after landing a brutal Riptide from a table, which was positioned right on the top rope. With the win, Ripley concluded the feud with a stamp and both Cody and Cena are looking for the same this weekend at the MetLife Stadium.
