Roman Reigns made his long-anticipated return to WWE on the July 14, 2025, edition of Monday Night RAW, igniting a major shift in the red brand’s landscape. The former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion returned to a thunderous ovation, attacking Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed after CM Punk won a grueling gauntlet match to become the No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship.

In a pivotal moment, Reigns extended his hand to Jey Uso for the first time since Survivor Series 2024. Their interaction suggested that his return wasn’t to aid Punk but to stand beside his “former Right-Hand Man” once again. The moment also teased a possible alliance that could reshape SummerSlam 2025.

The Tribal Chief Championship is a collector’s item

Following Reigns’ return, WWE unveiled a new merchandise collection under the branding “OTC1” – a nod to Reigns as the “One True Chief.” The standout item is the limited edition Tribal Chief Championship belt, now available on WWEShop.com. Despite earlier rumors, the belt will not be used as an official championship in WWE.

Designed months ago during Reigns’ feud with Solo Sikoa, the belt was inspired by The Rock’s “People’s Championship” concept from the WrestleMania XL build. It features a large centre plate emblazoned with Reigns’ face and the inscription “Undisputed Tribal Chief.”

WWE SummerSlam tag team plan teased for Roman Reigns

While CM Punk now moves into position to face Gunther at SummerSlam, Reigns’ role appears to be headed toward a personal collision with Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. There’s speculation that WWE could book a blockbuster tag match pitting Roman Reigns and Jey Uso against the monstrous duo.

Another key consideration is Reigns’ growing Hollywood commitments. With filming for the Street Fighter movie, where he stars as Akuma, set to begin in August, this SummerSlam run may be short-lived.

Though questions remain about his long-term availability, Reigns’ RAW return has injected much-needed star power into WWE programming. With Seth Rollins potentially sidelined due to injury, Reigns could remain a vital presence leading up to SummerSlam before taking another hiatus.
